I am in a crisis right now.

I earned a scholarship and came to Los Angeles as a Kurdish filmmaker with a dream to complete my Master’s degree in Film and Media Production at the New York Film Academy. This was my opportunity to bring Kurdish stories to the world. But now, my scholarship has been frozen.

With my thesis short film scheduled to shoot on May 7, 2025, time and resources are slipping away. Without funding, I cannot afford to produce this film in Los Angeles. On top of that, I must find a way to cover my rent and living expenses during this difficult period while my scholarship remains frozen.

Yet, despite everything, I still believe in this story deeply.

Hêlîna Min Li Başûr is a Kurdish short film about three generations of Kurdish women, a grandmother in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan), her daughter and granddaughter living all alone in America. The story will take place on Newroz, a Kurdish celebration for New Year and the first day of Spring. It's a story of love, protection, and Kurdish culture.

This film is about an invisible thread between generations, between mothers and daughters. It is about quiet heroism, the everyday moments of love that we carry, and the karma of doing good, even when no one is watching.
