But like... What's the story here? Well...

Grand City: Home to heroes  great and small! And then there's Mark...

Mark Salzmann is a pretty average guy. He's got a day job, a gym membership he rarely uses, a girlfriend, and a best buddy at work. But... Mark has a secret. In his downtime, he's the good-hearted, well-intentioned, but not so well respected crimefighter Sissonne!

What amazing powers could such a noble soul possess? How about unusually strong feet and a love for ballet dancing? Listen, the guy has passion and a purpose. Cut him some slack.

Since his less than stellar debut in Grand City, the public opinion has been a bit mixed on Mark. They aren't even really sure what to call him. The Ballet Basher? The Pirouette Punisher? Twinkle Toes? Despite this, Mark does his best to do good. Everything is going great until his girlfriend spots him in action on her morning coffee run, completely exposing his secret identity and dumping him on the spot. She can't be caught dating the most ridiculous cape in town, after all. Issue #1 follows a dejected Mark as he navigates a downward spiral and tries to win back his lost lady.

About the Project...

In 2017, my friend and prolific comic creator, Brian Cole, approached me with an incredible offer. He had an idea for a comic that sounded right up my alley.  Tell the story of a street-level neighborhood hero who isn't quite powerful enough to make the world a better place, but can probably improve the quality of life for a couple of square blocks and the gas station at the corner.

In Brian's words, "A lovable loser."

I was sold.

The premise started with a simple idea, a hero with an embarrassing power gets exposed by his girlfriend who dumps him. Of course, he decides to win her back. The only problem was Brian wasn't sure what power this poor guy was supposed to have.

As Brian tells it,  "I pitched the idea to writer Lee Newman, and he went off into some slapstick, bouncy castle corner of his mind and came back with..."

We polished the script, put together an incredible team, and produced a 24-page story full of humor, action, and heart. It was my dream project and I put a lot of myself into the character of Mark.

Issue One or One-Shot?

The short answer is kinda both. Sissonne was always intended to be a three issue micro-series and it would be great if that could happen. However, I tried to write the first issue with an open end so readers felt like they got a full story with lots of potential for a return.

Thanks to the incredible donations both here and over on Kickstarter, we were able to finally get Sissonne to print! I'm incredibly humbled to have them working on the project.
