Hello everyone, and welcome to the Norma Dress Campaign! What started as this college student’s humble capstone project, has inspired me to pursue my dreams of inclusive fashion. And I’m so excited to bring you all along for the journey.

The star of this campaign is one of my all-time favorite designs, even 6 years after I first imagined it in my time as a fashion design student. To this day, it’s still the most inquired-after piece in my portfolio. So, today I am pleased to introduce you all to Norma!

With its classic, cinch-waisted silhouette and flirty off-the-shoulder sleeves, the Norma Dress embodies the allure of night and projects the inner confidence of the wearer. Inspired by the colors and mysticism of the Northern Lights, Norma features an optional detached and customized overskirt that can double as a cape, shawl, or side skirt. This gives the wearer total control in making a unique statement look suited just for them, no matter their size, figure, or fashion desires. And with so many styling options, it’s the perfect outfit for any occasion, whether you need something casual day wear or a classy evening gown. Norma is a dress truly designed for every occasion and everybody.

   ~ Dress Features ~

Size-Inclusivity

One of the primary features of this dress is that it was designed with size inclusivity in mind. That means we will carry sizes XS through 5XL, all for the same price. So, unlike many mainstream brands, there will be no additional markup for plus-sized orders. As each size has been individually patterned and tested to verify its fit for a wide range of body types, you can rest assured that this dress will look amazing on you.

Sizes are XS, S, M, L, XL, 1XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL & 5XL

Once this is out of the sampling stage and I know how the sizes will be coming in I will update this with a sizing chart. 

Quality Design and Materials

Norma includes two big design features which set this dress apart from the rest. To support the dress’s structured bodice the bust includes sewn-in bust cups in all sizes, so you no longer have to stress and fuss over what kind of bra to wear with your new favorite dress. And as with every girl’s dream dress, the Norma also features discreet pockets.

Customization and Handcrafted Work  

While the base dress is a perfect addition to any wardrobe, the optional overskirt will surely add mystique and versatility to the look. In the original design, the overskirt is a detachable and two-toned accent with a colorful galaxy-patterned under-layer reminiscent of the northern lights against the night sky. Each overskirt ordered will be handmade to order and come in a wide variety of color options, so each individual Norma dress is truly unique and made for you.

~ Campaign Status ~

Much of this project has already been funded through my own efforts over the course of the design and patterning stages. The current stage of production is the sampling stage where I am going through and testing every offered size to ensure a flattering fit for every body type and size. This campaign seeks to fund the final stages of manufacturing and shipping as the dresses are set to be ready by December 2023. When trying to decide if you would like to back this campaign see this as a pre-order system. This will help me gauge what sizes to order as I will have 10 different sizes. If you are backing for a dress you will get the first round of dresses that will be sent out. 

 If the Goal is passed there will be extra goodies that will be added to the backer's order!

     If this mark is hit custom dyed hoodies and patches. To find out what colors you would like it would come in the email to find out the size you would like. This will be sent to every backer over $50.

      If this goal is hit then all backers that backed a dress or overskirt will be getting a patch, hoodie, and a garment game.

~The face behind Silvermist Design~  

Hello! My name is Miranda, and I'm the owner and head designer at Silvermist Design. I’m a small designer working primarily on customs and alterations, and I sell costume accessories at conventions (To those who have met me at one of these, hello again!) When I do events, I bring garments to showcase some of my work, and folks always ask me if this dress is available. After years of asking for the dress, I’m finally happy to say YES!

This is the first crowdfunding that I have ever done! For a little backstory on why I picked the name of the dress and how I got started in design. First, the dress is named after my first and one of my favorite sewing teachers. She was my grandmother Norma. She showed me how to sew and read a pattern when I was in the 8th grade. Going over to her house over the summer and watching her sew or her letting me learn how to work her equipment so I can sew on my own when I would come over. Her support and wanting to see what I would come up with next made me take the jump to go into design school. Sadly she passed away in my freshman year of college so she didn't get to see where this path would take me.

For my senior year of college when it came to naming my collection that was based around the ever-changing Northern Lights. I picked the name Norma Aurora. The collection held many means for me. The first was to figure out how to make garments that anyone and anybody could feel gorgeous in. I did a lot of research on trans women's comfort in skirts and dresses. After I did the research I went on to what did I want the theme of my collection. I realized that change was a major point in my research so I looked into what changes. There were a lot of Themes that were on the board but kept being drawn to the Northern Light. With the pull of that theme, Norma Aurora was born. This dress was one of 5 dresses that were made for this collection. With that being said Thank you so much for reading my crowdfund! 

~ Basic Info on how this works~

1. Pledges are charged immediately.

- Unlike Kickstarter, that charges at the end of the campaign - you may be charged immediately upon pledge but this does not mean it goes directly to me. I will have the funds after this campaign comes to a close.

2. SURVEYS will be sent to all backers via e-mail when the campaign ends.

- Remember to check your emails if you have backed this project. The email will let me find out what size you would like and more based on what perk you went for. 

3. Please make sure to double-check your shipping information and email.

- To make sure that your dress arrives safely and at the correct addresses. This will also let me get hold of you to inform you if the ship date changes.
