On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina changed everything.

As survivors, creators, and native New Orleanians, we lived the storm. Some of us escaped into attics. Some were displaced as children. Others were wrongly imprisoned, watching the levees fail from jail cells. Two decades later, the wounds of Katrina still shape our communities—and many of our stories remain untold.

K20: Defined by Disaster is a feature-length documentary born from lived experience. We’re not just filmmakers—we are the story. And now, we’re using our lens to reclaim the narrative.

K20 is a 90-minute, cinematic documentary featuring:

• 15 powerful interviews with survivors, artists, journalists, activists, and leaders

• Voiceover narration by Q93’s Wild Wayne and hip hop legend Mia X

• Historic Katrina footage, layered with bounce music, second lines, and raw truth

• A story structure that begins in tragedy—but ends in triumph

It’s a film defined by resilience, memory, and accountability—made for the 20th anniversary of Katrina, and for the generation that came after it.
