The rise of humanity from the ashes of a fallen earth

God abandoned us, and Death embraced us. While the world burned Death lifted us up, gave us the power to raise our own dead to fight back and defend what was left of humanity. And it was ok. Better than the alternative. 

A new religion arose, its necromantic high priests both the progenitors of new life and the protectors of the scraps of human life left in this damned world. A grand fortress sepulcher rose from the ashes to shelter us. The work of fighting back against the Angels of the Apocalypse began. No time to worry if we were too late. The worm had turned.

THE WORLD

Giant monstrous "angels" have trapped Humanity behind great walled fortress cities. Deaths from defending the walls and a declining birth rate leads to a reliance on necromantic workers to uphold society. Necromancers become more powerful, but the church and the throne keep them in step.

Technology is developed by trapping feral ghosts in “batteries” and giving them simple commands, but is limited because ghost energy is drained when ghosts are forced to occupy non living devices. More complex machines are built using dead human tissue, which is easier to possess. The easiest possession is your own corpse, which lead to a plan to fight back.  A ritual was devised to fuse a human body to a mech frame, while simultaneously creating a ghost to pilot the weapon via possession.

THE SYSTEM

We plan to have a two-system game, very much inspired by Lancer.

Ghost mode will use the No Dice No Masters system to ramp up drama between battles. I like the idea that ghosts aren't able to interact with the physical world, it makes for interesting limitations. And I can't get the move "you can always spend a token to moan and rattle chains" out of my head.

Mech mode will use a d20 OSR system for cool cinematic fights against the forces of heaven! I want to use Into the Odd because it's been my favorite ever since my buddy introduced me to it. 

 And we will include a campaign wherein you must defend Lady Death herself against the remaining three horsemen of the apocalypse!

We are a husband and wife duo who have run games for our friends and brought them to life with custom art for years! we plan to use half of the money to print some books, take shipping money closer to the shipping date, save a quarter of the money for unseen fees and expenses, and use the remaining quarter to hire other cool writers and artists!
