Who are we?
Harvey : Disco Kitty is the brainchild of Evan Collier (Arch Productions and Design/Lead Builder), Benjamin Jones (Honorarium Artist/Circus Fabulae 2019), Shiny Galeani (Art Project Manager), and Tiff Porter (Stylist). Between the four of us, we have been collectively burning for over 40 years.
The History of Harvey:
Harvey the RV (aka Harvey the Love Muscle) was an 1990 Fleetwood Flare RV purchased in 2005 and renovated as a local NYC Art Car by Evan Collier.
Harvey made his voyage to Burning Man in 2012 and became a staple in the Brooklyn scene at Gratitude events, Bang-on Parties, and as part of the JunXion bus Fleet.
Sadly, in 2016, Harvey was retired due to being deemed unsafe to drive. He has been resting behind Arch Production and Design in upstate New York, waiting for his comeback. In 2019, the choice was made to demo Harvey to a blank canvas.
The Future of Harvey:
Because, in fabrication we look to use EVERY part of a product, we are rebuilding Harvey with things we have available to us! Most of Harvey will be made with up-cycled items from many local fabrication shops.
So, who is Harvey: Disco Kitty?
Harvey is a kitty with a mission; to bring music, joy, and play to all those at Burning Man 2022. With 192 sq. ft. of dance/hang space plus a driver and assistant seat, there is plenty of room to comfortably fit 30-40 people. The team wants to make sure that all abilities are welcome on Harvey! There will be a folding ladder for those to walk up, a 36 inch entrance for wheel chairs to be lifted in, and 12 hooks on the back for bikers to hang their bikes and join in! Harvey will have an on-board sound system with blue-tooth capabilities, but Harvey is NOT a sound car. He purrs.
