Wendy Walker hasn't added a story.
In honour of the
National Day for Truth and
Reconciliation
(Sept. 30, 2022)
Walker & The Tribe are releasing
the new single
“And The Children”.
By Cree Métis / Mi’kmaq singer-songwriter
Wendy Walker.
Your support will help cover the in-studio recording costs and expenses related to digital publicity.
This stirring and tender song is Wendy Walker’s heartfelt tribute to the stolen children of Canada’s Indian Residential Schools, and arises from an intimately personal place, as the child of a survivor.
“And The Children” invites connection and relationship while embracing grief as a path toward healing.
About Wendy Walker
Wendy is an established Cree Métis and Mi’kmaq First Nations singer-songwriter who has toured Canada and abroad. Her grassroots musical flair spans folk to rock, at times including a traditional musicality, that compliments her powerhouse voice.
A career highlight for Wendy was the creation an Indigenous showcase at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang South Korea, performing for world leaders in attendance.
In addition to releasing thirty singles, and contributing to multiple
collaborations, Wendy has two other albums under her belt with a third
currently in development. She has also appeared as an actor for the
stage and film and provided commentary on television. Wendy is a
committed activist and lends her skills and insight as an educator.

School Yard Gravesites
In May, 2021, ground penetrating radar confirmed what Indigenous peoples had long already known. The remains of 215 children buried at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School no less shocked Canadians and reverberated across the globe.
As of this year, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation’s Memorial Register has 4,130 confirmed names of children who died while at Residential Schools. Historically scant record keeping, however, indicates this represents an under-reporting of missing kids.
Join Walker & The Tribe in marking this year’s Orange
Shirt Day with lasting resonance.
