Parum Excitatur (A Little Excited), will take shape on the Playa of Black Rock City, bringing a moment of wonder and play to the vast desert landscape.
This bronze installation captures cherubs mid-backflip, frozen in motion as if suspended in time. Hidden steel supports create the illusion of weightlessness, while polished surfaces reflect the shifting desert light, enhancing the sense of movement and energy. Blending classical symbolism with modern techniques, Parum Excitatur explores freedom, innocence, and joy—encouraging viewers to reconnect with the childlike wonder so often lost in adulthood.

About The Artist
Élvs is the acronym for British contemporary Artist and
multidisciplinary creative director Elvis Ellis.
His works are often a result of his continual
experimentation with different mediums, techniques and
technology. He blends traditional art forms with contemporary
styles to create unique and captivating pieces that engage the
viewer on multiple levels.
His key artistic vision is to take something small and
make it big, which is evident in the grand scale of his works.
Whether it's a large-scale painting, a massive sculpture, or a
complex video installation, his pieces always command
attention and leave a lasting impression. With his roots in
Bristol, UK, Élvs is often hailed as the next big artist from
the city.
The Production Process
Crafting Parum Excitatur begins with meticulous hand-carving, shaping each cherub from wood at full scale to refine movement and expression. Silicone molds are then created to capture every intricate detail, serving as the foundation for the bronze casting process. Finally, molten bronze is poured into these molds, preserving the essence of the original carvings and bringing the sculpture to life.
Monumental in Scale, Effortless in Motion
Weighing over 3 tons, Parum Excitatur towers 9 feet high, its cherubs appearing weightless mid-flip. Hidden steel supports create the illusion of motion, blending artistry with engineering.
The sculpture will be anchored with load-bearing pillars and lifted into place by crane, ensuring its seamless suspension against the desert sky.
Animated by Light
At night, carefully placed lights will illuminate each cherub in sequence, creating the illusion of movement—like a flickering animation frozen in bronze. This dynamic lighting brings Parum Excitatur to life, making it dance with light against the desert backdrop.
