My name is Jess and I’m raising $1,000 to $1,500 to set up a basic, functional workspace so I can continue developing my writing and building a community project that matters deeply to me. I’ve fallen on hard times, and at the moment I’m working entirely from a small iPhone. I’m looking for second-hand or refurbished equipment to keep costs low. I don’t need anything fancy, just reliable tools:

• A comfortable, supportive computer chair

• A simple laptop

• A basic printer

• A decent camera and microphone for interviews

• A stable WiFi connection

I’m a writer currently working on two major projects:

• The novelization of my own lived experiences

• A series exploring complex trauma, childhood trauma, mental illness, and addiction, featuring real accounts from people who choose to share their stories

Alongside the writing, I’m building an online peer group network through a variety of mediums, focused on growth, support and a shared sense of humour. It’s a community built for people who have felt alone, who carry heavy stories, and who also understand the strange but necessary role of gallows humour in survival. The goal is to create a space where people can support one another, share openly, and feel allowed to laugh again.

This setup will let me write properly, interview people safely and respectfully, and keep building a community that helps people feel less isolated.
