For your lasting pleasure we shall build a cat - a magic Yokai -
that will draw your mind and body into a new dimension.
Alas, we live in a world where building beautiful things costs money.
- Structural materials ~ $15k (acrylic sheets, plywood, steal, tools and bindings)
- Electronics ~ $5k (wires, nanocontrollers, LEDs, sensors, sound, moons)
- Magic altar ~ $1.5k (projector, movement tracker, building materials)
- Shipping and logistics ~ $10k (engineering team is London based)
- Power ~ $5k (we want our Yokai to be as eco friendly as possible)
So we have turned to fundraising.

Our Story
started in 2018, when a herd of software engineers and other amazing creatures befriended prior having decided to make a communal discovery of Nowhere (which is a wonderful BurningMan-like event held in Spain).
We got so impressed by the beauty of communal contribution and art co-creation that we couldn't resist coming back in a year (in 2019) with a larger herd (forming then unofficial MoonCows barrio) and art.
As a MoonCows subgroup, Ko-Tyat-Ki Art Kollektiv. (where “kotyatki” stands for a cute way of calling kittens in Russian) - we brought our first interactive installation to the Playa - Ear of the Universe.
Ear of The Universe was a mindblowing success, inspiring us to do more. Manifesting its different forms on a few MoonCows-organised events, raves and parties, and London Decompression 2019.
And then Covid hit. We all went stale for a few years, accumulating creativity and aspiration to make more dusty friends happy with our art.
2022 was the year of rebirth. Now-official-barrio, MoonCows, was blasting Nowhere with 50 cows milking and dancing. And Ko-Tyat-Ki presented an interactive sandbox, and started to think further.
Ashen Glow (consisting of the moon-like interactive spheres and Shibari ropes) the reincarnation of the Ear, was provided for ones’ enjoyment at MoonCowFeastival 2.1, Midburn 2022 and London Decompression 2022, hippy trapping and bringing playful joy of the new ways of the information interaction.
When we found out that the Animalia is the theme for the Burning Man 2023 - we knew that Ko-Tyat-Ki must bring the Mother Cat (Kinki Yokai) to the main Playa.
With the structure built of interactively-lit acrylic sheets, the Yokai combines all the best we can offer for the entertainment of our dusty friends.

What exactly are we building?
An interactive acrylic gigantic cat-Yokai looking into a magic well-altar.
The Yokai is triangulated and made of multi-colored acrylic sheets engraved by a riddle of magic symbols.
Under the cat's furry belly is an oasis of reflection and play, a velvet chill zone to sit or even lie down and let go.
The Cat’s nipples are five spheric"moons"-tied with Shibari ropes in a five-star geometry.
Play with the moons, pull the ropes - and the Yokai will respond with the magic of sounds and light, reflecting on your interaction. Milk the Yokai with the symphony of sound and light.
Tired of relaxation? The Sandbox-altar is another interactive area, an oracle, where moving the playa dust you will get multiple responses to any answers.
Philosophy
Cats, established human companions, portrayed as demonic or benevolent in apocryphal mythologies serving as the living embodiment of good/evil duality. From Bakeneko to Kot Behemoth, a cat can be a friend or a stranger, life or death, a simple familiar connected to one's inner magic, with which the cats' innate sensuality is brought to life via magical lights, sumptuous textures and transcendental sounds, incorporating comfort and nurturing the playfulness of the Mother-Cat. Influenced by mediaeval alchemy, the sensations of ropes, chains, fur and one's inner Lilith, the journey leads through dark, arcane symbols, to freedom from the culturally inflicted dark side. Moon-like hanging spheres represent a hanging bosom of the Mother-Cat, providing a safe cosy space for exploration, acting as an oasis of contemplation, enhancing the depth of the experience. As the Cat has one foot in spirituality and other in real life, so will our Cat break boundaries of reality, hypnotise with vivacious psychedelic dreams and awaken arcane magics.
