I am a full-time mom and a full-time artist. How do I do that?? I have no idea...but that's what I am.  I have been creating works of art for about 30 years.  I've had pieces in a few places however I'm still relatively quiet.  I'm an unknown artist without a clue as to how to make a name for myself.  I refuse to chop off my ear... I need both of them!  I have to hear all of my children...not the soap opera...my actual children.  

I am constantly creating. People always ask, "Where can I see your work in person?" I could invite them to meet me behind my couch, but somehow, I don't think that's professional. When I have contacted galleries about participating in shows, they want to know where else have I presented and etc.  I don't have write ups.  All I have is creativity and talent. 

My goals have always been to paint outside murals and have my own art space...my own gallery.  These are things I literally have to do.  In order to ensure that my work always has a home and is always seen, I need a space.   Not being able to achieve these things with in 30 years is crazy to me.  I need to make this happen.  I quit my job as an art teacher in order to be a full fledge artist.  That was 7 years ago.  I need to account for those years!  And I've been trying. With your help I can do this and finally smile at all the people who think doing art is just a hobby.  This is life for me. 

The space: a shipping container.  Location: lower east side of Detroit, Michigan

The container will be covered in a mural by me and my 11-year-old son who is also an artist.  it will be something that will draw people in and make them curious about what's going on inside this freaky colored structure :).  I get excited whenever I think about it!  

I decided to Crowdfund because shipping containers, although less expensive than brick buildings, still cost a pretty penny to get together.... a pretty penny that I can't seem to muster up.  I have the land and I definitely have the art. 

The container will of course be an art gallery, but also a studio and a classroom.  Art is not really prominent in many schools; therefore, I'd love to teach a small class at no cost to the students.  Art is therapy...kids need that!  So many kids need an outlet.
