Digital art is how I started my artistic journey, and this pandemic has me returning to those roots. Over the last year I've been exploring new artistic media, including virtual and augmented reality. I have some amazing opportunities to build on the skills I've developed and create exciting work, but my technology isn't up to the job. I am fundraising to buy an up-to-date computer and other necessities that will allow me to truly take advantage of the opportunities I've been offered.
I'm a TwoSpirit artist from Coast Salish and Stó:lō territories living in unceded Kwikwetlem (Coquitlam) and working in Vancouver, territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
As an artist, I have been fortunate enough to work on some amazing projects, and last year I took part in Single Thread Theatre's PXR symposium. Paired with IM4Lab's indigenous technology initiatives, I have been making and exploring VR, AR, and Mixed Reality art.I have even been invited to take part in some innovative tech explorations currently waiting on grant confirmations.
Through PXRs BIPOC fellowship I was given an Oculus Quest, and have been making worlds in AltSpace, exploring the realms of VR film, sculpture, and game creation.
Not having a computer compatible with the technology however, is much like having a ticket to the event, with nothing to wear and no ride. My computer struggles with minor streaming and creating professional images through photoshop takes strategic file breakdowns and a lot of time.
I am fundraising so I can get an up to date computer and
programs to do digital work on. I have support in the
community and mentors to learn from, but not the hardware to
do it.
I will be doing 30 days of live streamed TiltBrush drawings to develop and show my skills. These will be streamed on Facebook Live, the links to the finished drawings and recorded livestreams will be posted here and on my website, as well as some snippets onto my TikTok.
I have some wonderful supportive friends who are taking part in helping me with my journey already, so their donations will be a part of the gifts given to the first donors of each Tier.
My hardware goals are around $3, 500.00 for a computer custom built with current and upcoming tech considerations. This will be through Artesian, a company who makes amazing quality performance PCs and live streams the builds on Twitch so you can see the computer being made.
I also have some smaller hardware goals listed in my Amazon Wishlist which include digital drawing tools.

They set a high standard and build to the customers needs with the
highest quality parts. They even build their PCs live on Twitch, so we
