Cezar Capacle hasn't added a story.
This campaign was successfully funded
and the game is now available for purchase at:
https://capacle.itch.io/everspark
Do you remember when you first heard of tabletop RPGs? Do you remember what first attracted you to them? If you are anything like me, the idea of being a fantasy hero on epic quests in a world that we created together at the table was absolutely mind-blowing.
But soon I realized that the stories we wanted to tell clashed with the rules we used to tell them. There was a disconnect between the promise offered by the art and the setting, and the experience delivered by the game itself. We had a lot of fun still, mind you, but that was in spite of the hurdles caused by the mechanics.
Stop me if you've heard this before:
Player: "Can I try to..."
GM: "You used that action already."
Player: "What if I..."
GM: "There's a penalty because..."
Player: "Well then, can I..."
GM: "No, only on level 5"
Player: *sigh* "Ok... I guess I'll just swing my sword, then"
It took me 30 years and more than 30 games published to give this one a go. What if we could actually live the promise that those book covers sold? What if we could offer new players the experience they think they will have with that one game, without the frustration of a ruleset that says 'no' all the time?
That’s how Everspark was born.
I want to provide those carefree, belly-laugh-filled, let’s-play-pretend moments of rolling dice, casting imaginary spells, and coming up with all sorts of shenanigans. I want to reignite that original spark that first attracted us to this kind of games and never left us—the Everspark, if you will.
Who is this game for?
This game is for you if:
- You want (or were asked) to introduce tabletop RPGs for
new players that want to play that Dragon game,
but you don't feel like engaging with and explaining all the
finicky rules.
- You want to reignite that carefree joy of your early
experiences with tabletop RPGs, and finally live the
fantasy that they promised but couldn't quite deliver.
- You want to play with your kids or parents, or
anyone that is excited about the vibes of fantasy RPGs,
but doesn't have the time, focus, or interest for complex mechanics.
- You are a beginner yourself that wants to experience what a fantasy tabletop RPG is like, but always felt overwhelmed or intimidated by the amount of things you'd have to learn.
Everspark is a fantasy adventure tabletop RPG that aims to capture the vibe of the most popular fantasy RPGs out there and leave everything else out of the table. Do you want to roll some d20s and pretend you are a wizard? You are in the right place.
You get to tell epic tales, live the fantasy of being a unique hero, celebrate nat-20s and lament nat-1s, and spend some quality time with your friends (or by yourself) daydreaming about dragons. You only need a d20, a d6, and a bunch of sticky notes.
Character creation takes anything from 5 seconds to 15 minutes, and then you’re ready to go. You can create your own world and quests, or play on your favorite settings with published modules, with zero conversion required.
I should warn you that if you enjoy min-maxing, tactical combat with minis on a grid, intricate character sheets with detailed, numerical and precise abilities, this is not this game. The fun of playing Everspark lies in the stories you tell, aided by the unpredictability of the dice. If your gaming preference lies towards crunchy rules… well, you might still have a good time with this game, and I encourage you to give it a try. But be warned.
On the other hand, if that’s your first experience playing a TTRPG, well, I’m honored! It is my hope that this minimalist approach will provide you with all you need to start your journey on the hobby by focusing on my favorite aspects about them: the tales you craft and the great memories they can create.
Highlights
-
Zero-prep, rules-light: Grab a d20, a d6,
sticky notes, and you are all set. You learn the rules in five
minutes and, with zero preparation, you'll play to discover the
world. With no numerical constraints, the game encourages
out-of-the-box, inventive actions, and will never penalize you
for being creative.
-
Four modes of play: Play it solo or with your
friends, as a party in coop mode, or as individual protagonists
in parallel play. You don't need a game master,
but you may have one acting as a
host and facilitator, if you want.
-
8,000 characters:
With 20 Ancestries, 20
Backgrounds, and 20 Classes, you have 8,000 possible
combinations to bring your character idea to life! If that's not
enough, you can mix and match to create your own personal take,
or import your favorite ideas from other games as well. Your
character sheet has no numbers whatsoever; you can make your
fantasy hero in just a couple of minutes.
- Any world you like: Create a unique fantasy world with the tables available, or take that worldbuilding project, campaign setting book or adventure module gathering dust in your shelf for a spin! Everspark is very welcoming to any material from other games as well!
My initial intent when considering this ruleset was: what if we stripped down classic d20 systems of everything, and left only the joy of rolling a d20?
So that’s what I did. There are no modifiers, DC, AC, HP, ability scores, spell slots, proficiency, weapon damage, skill lists. You roll a d20 and eyeball the result to see if you get a critical, regular or mixed success (or failure). If circumstances are more (or less) favorable, you judge your results more (or less) generously. That’s all there is to it:
- 20 is VERY GOOD. You achieve your goal, plus something extra (such as an advantage, opportunity, or bonus effect).
- Around 15 is GOOD. You get exactly what you want without any complications.
- Around 10 is OK. You succeed, but there’s a cost, consequence, or compromise. Or, you can forgo success now to create an opening for a better result on the next attempt.
- Around 5 is BAD. You might still succeed, but the cost is higher, or the consequences are direr. You can choose to forfeit your success to handle a minor setback instead.
- 1 is VERY BAD. You fail to achieve your goal and must face serious consequences.
Well…
almost. There’s one other simple yet versatile mechanic:
Sparks. Sparks are a powerful tool to
measure progress, and they can be used for a lot of things:
skill challenges, character progression, looming threats,
long-term projects, conditions, resources, weaknesses, montage
scenes, enemy resistance, faction plans… the list
goes on for as long as your imagination can take you.
(If you're into game design, Sparks are my attempt to combine Clocks, Aspects, Progress Tracks, Usage Dice, Hero Points and Fear Tokens into one single mechanic)
Sparks are represented by progressively drawing a 5-point star shape on a labeled sticky note. When you need to track progress of anything meaningful, grab a sticky note, name it, and place it on the table. Every time the story (or the dice) demands, you add more rays to your Spark.
But
here's the catch: when you add a ray, you may perform a Spark
Check. Roll a d6, and if you
hit a ray (e.g., if you’ve drawn 3 rays and you
roll a 1, 2, or 3), the progress is complete. This
means the task or event reaches its resolution!
There's
more nuance to it, but that's the gist. It's so simple, yet
exceptionally flexible. And better yet: it's
modular. That is, the more you get comfortable with
the mechanism, the more "Spark tricks" you can add to your
game. The book gradually teaches you a whole bunch of examples, from
combos to
magical items, from
recharging powers to
procedural exploration. And I encourage you to
come up with your own applications and interpretations, as your
version of the game demands! It's super fun!
Here's a video with a more detailed explanation of the mechanics:
I
envisioned this crowdfunding campaign as a very low-profile one. The
game is 100% developed and playtested, the writing is 60% done, the
layout is already figured out, and I have nearly all the art I need
for the game (by the amazing Ray Olli).
I want to raise some money to pay for my time and the art while I finish writing, editing, and laying out the game, and offer it at a discounted price as I do so. As such, here's a quick rundown of what you can expect from it:
- The game text is 60% written, apart from the examples of play.
After that is done, I'll enter the editing phase.
- The layout is defined, as you can see from the mockups. Once the
text is revised, it won't take long to put everything in place.
- The game will be released regardless of the campaign reaching its funding goal. You will get the game no matter what.
Regarding tiers and goals:
- There are only two reward tiers:
- For $12, you get the PDF of the game and a coupon for an optional purchase of the print-on-demand version on Lulu at cost, by yourself. The PoD version will be made available when the revised edition of the game is finished.
-
For $62, you also get a unique
custom character of your creation, illustrated by our
artist Ray Olli, according to your specifications! (see more
details below)
- You can also top off your pledge to generate community
copies of the zine for folks who can't afford it.
- There are no stretch goals. I don't want to over-promise and under-deliver. The more I get from this campaign, the better I'll be able to cover my monthly expenses.
Your reward includes:
For the $12 tier
- ~100-page, full-color, totally hyperlinked and bookmarked PDF
- Printer-friendly version of all the tables
-
At-cost print-on-demand coupon for the 6 x
9 in (US Trade) book, both in paperback or hardback options,
offered via Lulu
- Estimated delivery: December 1st, 2024.
For the $62 tier
- Everything above, plus:
- An illustrated custom character. Immortalize your Hero! Choose (or come up with) your own combination of Ancestry, Background, and Class, create a max of two paragraphs of backstory, a name, and describe your character so that our artist Ray Olli can create the art for you! You can choose to keep the character only for you or add it to the core book and become part of the game!
-
Limited: only 20 slots available!
- Estimated delivery: You'll be sent a form to fill in with your specifications after the campaign is over. Please allow us around 15 days after receiving your character details for the artist to draw it and for me to lay out the page.
- Your character and backstory submission is subject to approval. I reserve the right to decline any content that includes offensive material, such as bigotry, racism, or hate speech.

See all activity331[Everspark] Version 1.0 is Out, and Print-on-Demand Versions Are Available!
Hello everyone,
I’m thrilled to announce that Everspark Version 1.0 is officially out!
You may have already received a notification from itch.io about this update. If you didn’t, you can find the links to purchase the print-on-demand versions of the book within your downloads on the Everspark itch.io page.
There are three links available:
•Two for the core book (one for hardcover and one for paperback).
•One for the reference guide, which I’ve made available with saddle stitch binding for easier use.
The books are a bit more expensive than I’m used to seeing, and I’ll admit, I feel a little self-conscious about that. However, considering this is a 332-page book, fully illustrated, and comparing it to other industry standards, I don’t think it’s too far off.
Just to clarify, I don’t earn any revenue from the physical sales. The price reflects exactly what Lulu charges for production—it’s not something I’ve marked up or added extra to.
In any case, I truly hope you enjoy the books and have a great time with them!
This brings us to the end of the campaign. Any future updates for the game—such as adjustments or other alterations—will be announced exclusively on the itch.io page. So, if you’d like to stay informed, feel free to follow the project there.
Additionally, in response to a surprisingly large number of requests, I’ve decided to start a Discord server! This will be a space to discuss Everspark and all my other games. If you’re interested, you’re more than welcome to join—just follow this link:
Thank you again for your incredible support. You’ve made Everspark shine brighter, and I couldn’t have done it without you.
All the best,
Cezar
Look forward to the chat on Discord
All the best Paul
Although I did get the previous updates, I didn't seem to get the full v. 1 download link for everspark, from itch.io or crowdfundr. Could you help me?
[Everspark] A Special Message From Our Artist (And More Updates)
Hey everyone,
It’s me again, with a very exciting update! Version 0.9.5 is out on itch, and all the custom characters whose forms were sent before the deadline now have their artwork completed and added to the book!
But more importantly, our incredible artist, Ray Olli, asked me if I could share a message with all of you. Of course, I said yes, and I really want you to take a moment to appreciate it:
----------------------------------------------------
"First of all, I’d like to make two requests.
"The first is an apology. I ended up delaying the illustrations because I went through an extremely challenging period with my mental health last year. By the end of the year, I was simply exhausted—exhausted with everything, including being responsible. I sincerely apologize and feel it’s necessary to say so because you, the backers, deserve to receive what you supported.
"It’s not easy being an independent creator, and thanks to the support of people like you, projects like this become possible. The illustrations maintain the quality you’ve come to expect, so I’m happy with the result. I’m also deeply grateful for Capacle’s patience, which has been incredibly important during my recovery.
"The second request: please take care of your mental health. If I can offer a tip, it’s this—start with the basics: eat healthy food and regulate your sleep. It won’t fix everything, but trust me, it will help a lot.
"If you’re going through a tough time, it might feel like things won’t change or get better, but that’s not true. There’s always a chance for improvement.
"I hope this year is the best year of your lives, and I wish you all the best. The work continues, so let’s keep moving forward."
---------------------------------------------------
Isn’t he the best? Please show him some love in the replies and comments—I’ll make sure to pass all your messages on to him. And as he said, please do take care of yourselves.
Now, I think we’re pretty much done, barring any new goofs or typos. I’ve already fixed a bunch and corrected some more names for this update, so I believe we’re very nearly ready to publish version 1.0 (woohoo!) .
This also means making the print-on-demand version available to you, which I'm getting to right away. Keep in mind, since this is a 330+ page book, it may be a bit steeper in price. However, I’ll be offering both hardcover and paperback options. I think it will make for a beautiful tome to have at home, if your budget allows.
As a reminder, I don’t make any revenue from the print book. I’ll provide you with a coupon to purchase it at cost—you’ll only pay what Lulu charges for printing and shipping.
Additionally, I’ll be sending individual emails to backers who submitted custom character forms by the deadline. These emails will include:
•Your character’s isolated artwork with a transparent background, so you can use it however you wish.
•A separate page featuring your character’s name and backstory.
For those who submitted their descriptions after the deadline, don’t worry—your characters will be added to the book in a later update.
That’s it for now. I hope you love the new art—it’s absolutely glorious—and I’ll see you all very, very soon!
-- Cezar
(And it was so worth waiting for! What a delight to find Matto in my inbox this morning. He's perfect.)
I'm deeply moved by your sincerity and the courage to share your vulnerabilities with us. It only reinforces how human and inspiring you are, and it shows how important this project is to you.
I want you to know that we’re by your side, cheering for you and admiring your dedication. I was absolutely thrilled with the result of the character I sent — it captured exactly the essence I had in mind, and that’s a testament to your talent and sensitivity.
Sending you all the best vibes and wishing you a year full of light, health, and achievements. The work continues, and we’re in this together. 💪✨
[Everspark] Version 0.9.4 is here!
Hello, everyone!
Version 0.9.4 is out since yesterday, and you should have received an e-mail from itch to know all about it.
In case you've missed, here’s everything that’s been updated (head out to your downloads on itch to grab the latest version):
What’s New in 0.9.4?
-
Your Names: There was an export issue in the last
version that caused some names to be missing. I’m really sorry about
that! I believe it’s fixed now, but I kindly ask you to double-check
that your name is included and displayed the way you want it.
-
Formatting Improvements: I’ve revised bold,
highlights, line breaks, line heights, spacing, paragraphs, and
colors. The overall layout should now feel more polished and consistent.
-
Links and Page References: All links and page
references are now in place! When a section is mentioned, the
correct page number is shown, and in the PDF, clicking on any bold
purple text will take you directly to the referenced section.
-
Grammar and Typos: Thanks to your invaluable help
(seriously, thank you!), we’ve corrected dozens of small grammar
mistakes, expressions, and typos. As a non-native speaker, I
appreciate your patience—and maybe one day I’ll finally master
on versus in! The text is now super polished.
-
Printable Sigils Update: The printable version of
the sigils has been slightly adjusted to improve text spacing,
making it cleaner and easier to use.
-
Spark Visual Guide Handout: By suggestion from one
of you, I’ve added a single-page A4 handout summarizing the steps
for creating, advancing, and checking Sparks. It includes sticky
note illustrations for better comprehension.
- Reference Guide Updates: The reference guide has been updated to reflect the latest changes in the text and page references from the core book. It also now includes all bookmarks and links for easier navigation.
And that’s it for this update! I firmly believe that version 1.0 is just around the corner.
See you soon, and as always, if you find anything wrong, please let me know—it’s incredibly valuable. I can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support!
-- Cezar
This is a work of genius 👍
What software do you use ?
[Everspark] Version 0.9.3 is out! A lot of good stuff!
Happy New Year, my friends!
I’m excited to announce the release of Everspark version 0.9.3! (No, you didn’t miss 0.9.2—I used that number for internal updates, so don’t worry.) This update is packed with great stuff. Let me give you a breakdown of what’s new:
What’s New in 0.9.3?
• Quick Map-Making Procedure:
I couldn’t resist adding this! It’s a superfast map-making system that uses hand gestures—and I love it. Check it out!
• Custom Characters:
I’ve added the pages and backstories for the custom characters. While I’m still waiting for the artwork (Ray is taking a short holiday break), the written content is ready.
• Backer and Patron Names:
Your names have been added! Please check that your name is correct, and let me know if any changes are needed.
• Named Spot Art NPCs:
Nearly all the spot art now has short descriptions! This transforms them into named NPCs you can use as inspiration or drop right into your adventures. Just flip to a page, and there they are!
• Updated Story Sheet:
The story sheet has been refactored to match the style of the other tables in the game.
• Optional Back of Character Sheet:
I added a new optional backside for the character sheet. It includes a space to track Sparks. You can place a post-it note on it and use the space to write down details as needed.
• Bookmarks, Page Numbers, and a Content Page:
These are now in place! However, I’m still working on adding internal links and fixing page references, which are currently marked as “page XX.”
• Reference Guide:
The full reference guide is complete! It’s 28 pages of tables and short rules summaries for the game’s most important mechanics. You can print and play it now, and I’ll also offer a print-on-demand version with Saddle Stitch binding for those who want a handy companion to the core book. It’s the same 6”x9” US trade format as the main book. Look at this beauty:
• Text Fixes and Formatting:
I corrected several copy-paste errors, repetitive text, and other small mistakes. I’m also continuing to review the text for formatting and polishing sentences where needed.
• Potential Text-Only Version:
Based on backer feedback, I’m considering a text-only version of the final game. This might be offered as a website or ebook to make it easier to reference.
What Else?
• Campaign Status:
The campaign is officially over, and funding is now closed. However, I’ve made the game available for pre-sale on itch.io at a discounted price while we finish the final touches.
• Art and Pre-Sale Updates:
I’m waiting on the final pieces of art to be completed and added. While the pre-sale goes on, I'll finish the polishing of the PDF and prepare the print on demand version as well. Links to the PoD will be added among the download links on itch as well.
You should receive an update announcement from itch.io, and you can use the same link as before to download the latest version.
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished in this update, and we’re so, so close to the final version. Thank you again for your continued support—I hope you enjoy this latest version of Everspark!
Until next time, and Happy New Year!
-- Cezar

When you get a chance and only if it doesn’t distract from your work (or conversely, holiday break) could you send us that beta too? No rush, and we’re happy to wait for the next update instead if that works better for you.
- the procedures for worldbuilding and adventure creation are solid. Combined with the Sigils and Fate Checks it gives you a complete solo solution. At no point did I feel like I had to reference my other solo tools. Good job! (I did use the Sigils a lot to frame scenes and I have a slight worry that they will get old soon, there only being six of them but that worry hasn't materialized so far. I typically roll twice and use the sigil modified by one of the aspects from the other roll.)
- my other worry was that the single unmodified roll will feel bad (unbalanced or simplistic) but it isn't the case. It's felt rather natural in play so far.
- haven't had the opportunity to test out sparks yet but I can already see they are cool so I feel no pressure to do that yet. My main goal was to test the core mechanics and the generative procedures.
:)

[Everspark] It's a Christmas Miracle!
Ho, ho, ho!
I’m extremely pleased to announce that I’m giving you access today to the beta version of Everspark! There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get right into it.
1. Why Beta?
I’m releasing this as a beta for a few reasons:
•I’ve just finished laying out 320 pages in just two weeks. Yes, you read that right—320 pages in two weeks! That level of intensity means there are bound to be some mistakes with copy-pasting, formatting, alignment, or colors. It’s been a grueling process, and my wrist—and the pink healing tape on it—can definitely attest to that.
•While the content is complete, there’s still polishing to be done. Every section is laid out, and no game content is missing. However, the custom art hasn’t been added yet. Ray is still working on it, as nine people have responded to the form so far. With the holidays and personal commitments, it’s understandable that it’s taking longer than expected.
In short, the beta is a complete and playable version of the game, but it’s not quite the final version yet.
2. What’s Missing?
Here’s what’s not included in the beta version:
•Page numbers, page references, and a table of contents.
•Hyperlinks and bookmarks for easy navigation.
•Minor formatting tweaks, such as bold and italic styling for keywords and expressions.
•The aforementioned custom art.
•Your names and the names of all patrons.
•The reference guide (more details below).
3. How Can I Get It?
The game will be distributed via itch.io. You should receive an email with the subject line: [Everspark] Your Beta PDF is Here!
Check your spam folder if you don’t see it. The email contains a download link to access the beta PDF from the itch.io page.
As a backup, I’m also sending a separate update here on Crowdfundr exclusively for backers. It will include a link to claim your copy.
If you run into any issues, please reach out to me—whether here, via email, on social media, or however you prefer. I’ll do my best to provide you with a direct link if needed.
4. What’s Next?
While you enjoy the beta PDF (and perhaps catch any typos or goofs to report to me!), here’s what I’ll be working on:
•Collaborating with Ray to add the custom art to the final layout.
•Developing the reference guide—a separate PDF containing tables and a summary of all rules for easy access. This will be available for all backers as both a PDF and a print-on-demand option if you’d like a physical copy.
• Some minor polishing in the text, if I find it is needed.
• I’m also considering adding a very short procedure for drawing maps—though that’s still to be determined.
5. Regarding the physical book
I’ll make it available for purchase only after the final PDF is completed. That means after all art is added, typos and errors are fixed, and any remaining polishing is done.
And that’s it for today.
Despite a few remaining tweaks and additions, the game is fully playable as is. I know the lack of bookmarks and a table of contents might make navigation a bit tricky, but I hope you give it a go regardless.
I’ll be taking a step back for the holidays to let everything breathe. I need the time to rest and recharge so I can return fresh and ready to make the final version as perfect as possible. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to put my hand on some ice!
Happy Holidays, and thank you so much for your continued support. I hope you enjoy the beta version of Everspark!
Until next time.
-- Cezar
Will there be, or is there already, a community for discussing Everspark and seeking groups? Would love to start a play-by-post parallel play game
Still, I think I'll get plenty of use out of this game.

[Everspark] This game is b-e-a-utiful!
Hello everyone,
I’m excited to bring you another update on our Everspark campaign! There’s a lot to cover, so strap in, and let’s dive right in.
1. You guys are awesome.
Yes, you! I shared the text-based version of the game and asked for feedback, and you all really delivered. That warms my heart so much. Thanks to your contributions and insights, we were able not only to fix typos, clarify sentences, and catch goofs, but also to add brand-new content.
We’ve included at least two entirely new sections—one delving deeper into magic and another expanding on parallel play. It’s been amazing to see how excited you all are about these additions! On top of that, we’ve added more examples, clarifications, and game design explanations to make everything even clearer.
Seeing your comments in the document, addressing them, and witnessing your enthusiasm for the game’s development has been an absolute joy. Thank you so, so much for being part of this journey!
2. The layout is progressing beautifully.
Translating all this text into a digestible, clean, and approachable book has been both a challenge and a lot of fun. The end result is turning out stunning!
Want a sneak peek? Of course, you do! Check this out (it's an animated gif):
3. This book is going to be a chonky boi.
As you can see from the preview, this book is going to be big. I’ve only finished Chapter 5, and we’ve already crossed the 150-page mark! Chapters 6 and 7, which cover Sparks and Procedures respectively, are still in the works, and they’re the beefiest ones yet.
There will also be lots of diagrams, especially in the Sparks section. I’m not a fan of crammed layouts—I prefer to use negative space to let the text and images breathe. So, while I’m not saving on pages, I am ensuring that the book is pleasant to read, easy to reference, and aesthetically enjoyable.
Keep in mind, there are literally only two rules in this game: Checks and Sparks. The rest of the book is filled with tips, principles, examples, and orientations to help translate the kind of experience I want Everspark to provide. I also believe these ideas, drawn from my experience and philosophy of gaming, will be useful beyond just playing Everspark.
4. I still need your custom characters.
If you backed at the custom character tier, I need you to fill out the form! So far, I’ve only received 5 out of 16 forms. If you want your character included, please complete it this week. Pretty please!
I sent out another email yesterday with the form link as a reminder. Ray is waiting to get started, but he’s got other jobs lined up, so I can’t keep him on hold for too long. If you’ve got a minute, please fill it out and send it to me by the end of the week. I’d really appreciate it!
5. What’s next?
I’ll continue working on the layout, and let me tell you—it’s coming together beautifully. I’m taking my time because I don’t want to rush and deliver something subpar. You’ve all contributed so much, and you deserve the very best.
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together. This is, without a doubt, one of the best things I’ve ever created. Although I can’t wait to get this into your hands, I want to ensure it’s pristine so you feel just as excited about it as I am.
That’s all I’ve got for today! If you have any questions, please drop a comment, send me an email, or reach out however you prefer.
Talk to you soon, and have a fantastic week!

Game fully edited! You can read it today!
Hello there!
This is a jam-packed update, so let's get straight to it:
-
-
The text is fully edited and revised! I've
worked relentlessly this past month to take this game to the
next level. It wasn't simply catching typos and changing
sentence structure: I've reorganized the whole book, added a
bunch more examples, refined the delivery of the explanations,
and overall made the whole experience of reading the book more
pleasant. A good portion of the time was dedicated to crafting
the "voice" of the game, and I ended up in a place
that I'm quite happy with: a more approachable, informal style
when explaining rules, as if I were talking directly to you, and
a more evocative and colorful language for examples and
descriptions. In a way, it mimics the dynamics of an RPG table:
we move back and forth from vivid descriptions to loose
conversations all the time!
- I'm releasing the text-only version today! If you backed the project, you're going to receive a link to access a web-based, text-only version of the full game today on another separate e-mail. I know text-only documents can be very dry and unsexy, so I made sure to make the experience as pleasant as possible, if you want to check out the game in its entirety. The reason I'm doing this is because...
-
I'm taking a short break. I've been working 7
days a week without a single break on this project for the past
month, and I need to recharge if I want to deliver a great
finished product for you—and I do. I need to take a step back,
let the text "breathe" and stop stirring it so that
the sediments of loose ideas settle to the bottom (I'm mixing
metaphors here, but you know what I mean). The text version also
allows for comments, so during this break, if you find something
confusing or wrong, do not hesitate to point that out, and I'll
get to them when I return.
- Layout is next! I'll be off for the rest of the week, and I'll come back energized and excited about the layout phase! Luckily, we exterminate goofs and typos, and work on the presentation of this book, which I believe will be gorgeous! Speaking of which...
- Custom characters. I've still only received 5 responses to the custom character form! If you can, please take a moment to answer it, as to not overwhelm Ray, the artist, with all requests all at once! Can't wait to see your unique ideas coming to life!

As always, I am so grateful for your continuous support and understanding. If there are no hiccups or imponderables, I can likely finish the layout in a week or so! Pretty exciting, huh? So our original estimate of delivering the game in December stands!
Take care, and check your inboxes for the link to the text-only version.
