Thunder's Mouth Theatre hasn't added a story.
Thunder's Mouth Theatre are delighted to present: a whole new comic drama of the audio fiction variety, to be broadcast via the podcast medium as a limited series
"Baked Off!" follows the lives of a group of would-be home-bakers based in England and Scotland, who meet up for a regular online baking class under the tutelage of a retired Australian chef in Brisbane, Australia.
Over the course of eight fully scripted (20-30 minutes) episodes, we learn about their lives, work and family relationships, as they are learning how to make sourdough bread.
Each week they strive, fail and strive better, supporting and challenging themselves and each other as their private lives take unexpected twists and turns.
The script is complete, (written by Flloyd Kennedy, writer/creator of "Am I Old Yet?"), the cast - some of them you will know from "Am I Old Yet?" - are standing by to record. All we need is your support and encouragement to provide the team with appropriate financial recompense for their amazingly talented contributions.

Or, include your email, and I'll send you the recipe with instructions for how I do it, my way.

Dear Subscribers, Supporters and Contributors,
Episode 4 of "Baked Off!" has now landed in your private ad-free, early access feed. The place to find it is here:

And here's a snap of Sandgate (just north of Brisbane) which I took the last time I was there. That is not 'mud' as Edie and Margot refer to it. It is black (or very dark brown) sand. Lovely.
First with the tide out - a little bit. I can assure you it does go out much MUCH further than that.
and
then with the tide in. Or mostly in.
I'd love to know if you are enjoying the programme. It's clearly very different in some ways from "Am I Old Yet?" - mostly because there are a lot more people involved and the episodes are much longer.
Dialogue editing and sound design still take up most of my time. I'll keep going until either we raise enough funds to pay for someone else to take it over, or until all eight episodes are done—by me!
Thanks again for your lovely support, every which way.

Multi-tasking Over Here
Hello lovely people,
We've all had some crazy weather lately, ranging from a deadly
cyclone in Brisbane to a few unusually warm and sunny days here in
Liverpool. I do hope the Brissie people have power and wifi restored
by now, and lots of help to clean up as well. Sorry I can't be there
with my bucket and mop. But I can share a pic of the amazing mini
daffodils that are brightening my wintry (cold again) yard at the
moment.
I'm delighted to welcome some new "Am I Old Yet?" subscribers to the email group, so this is a combined/double podcast newsletter, because yes, I'm actually working on both "Am I Old Yet?" and "Baked Off!" right now. Season 11 of AIOY now has 4 episodes up and running, with Episode 5 recorded and going live on Friday am. Delivery is now on a bi-weekly basis (once a fortnight).
Episodes 1, 2 and 3 of B.O! are - as you know - available to you, and only you via the special page I've set up i.e. https://flloydkennedy.com/baked-off-live-laugh-loaves/. Episode 4 is still under construction, and I will get it out just as soon as is humanly possible!
The crowdfunder campaign is ongoing. The funds are being distributed to the voice actors, which feels very satisfying. Thank you again! Still not enough to hire Sarah to do the dialogue editing, so I'm ploughing on with that myself in the meantime. However, if you would be so kind as to keep on spreading the link and information regarding the campaign, we'd all be most incredibly grateful. There should be handy links somewhere in this email.
In other news, I've been encouraged to submit AIOY to the Golden Lobes Awards (not a typo—think about it!) in the Script section. All a bit of fun.
Take care of yourselves
with love and thanks
There (is) movement at the station!
That's a reference for the Aussies amongst you, a quote from Banjo Patterson's poem "The Man From Snowy River". Check it out!
Nowadays we just use it to indicate that things are happening! And since I last updated, two lovely new donors have joined the crew. Welcome!
On the recording front, I've now got Rob's (Dr Arthur Brownlow) audio through to Episode 8, and I'll be getting Wendy's (Heather, Rosemary) on Thursday. That just leaves Bernadette (Edie, Hilary) to be recorded and I'll be able to hand ALL the audio files over to Sarah - as soon as we hit that goal.
So if I may just ask you, very kindly please, to share the link to the campaign with your social circles as widely and as often and you think is appropriate and reasonable.
Thank you so very, very much.
Oh, and work on the Cookbook continues...

In the Loop
Hello everybody, sorry I haven't been in touch lately. Like all of you, I've been busy!
But I'm happy to report that the audio files are coming in for the next 5 episodes, and I hope to have Episode 4 up and ready for you very soon. Just waiting for one member of the cast now. This is what happens when you have a team dotted all over the world, in different time zones, with both work and family commitments, especially over the holidays!
In between editing and writing new episodes for "Am I Old Yet?" I've been crocheting! I used to do it a lot, but never to my big sister's excellent standard. So I was delighted when she sent me a pattern., quite easy - to get me back up to speed. I managed to make enough squares for a small runner for the dining table. You can probably see all the mistakes, but at least I had a go!
Also, the recipes for the cookbook from the cast are now coming in thick and fast, so if you are waiting for it as one of your perks, it won't be long now.
Here is what is in it so far...
And I'm thinking, if you'd just like to buy the cookbook. I'll make it available for £10 a pop. You can pay direct via Paypal. Just let me know and I'll figure it all out. It will all go towards our fund to pay Sarah! Because if she is taking on all the dialogue editing, you will get the whole Series in half the time it would take, if it's just me doing it all.

Stretch and Fold - the Goal!
Last night we reached our goal of £1500, thanks to a wonderful donor who found us on Tumblr.
So now, we are stretching the goal, to raise enough to take on board a professional dialogue editor - the fabulous Sarah Golding of Oz9 fame (and much much more
Please share this with your contacts on and off social media. Those perks won't deliver themselves!

Flloyd and the team.
Stretching and Folding
The original date for completion of this campaign came and went, without us achieving the original goal. So I've decided to re-group. The current goal is for £1500, which would allow me to pay a nominal fee to John and the 10 actors involved in the first 4 episodes. And the deadline is December 8th.
I will then set up a Stretch Goal for another £2,000 to cover the actors for the next four episodes. And if we make it that far, I'll set up another Stretch Goal to pay for the sound design.
This allows me to de-stress somewhat over the next few weeks, while I continue with the recording and editing of all 8 episodes.
Once again, thank you so very, very much for your support, and your generousity. If you would continue to spread the word, that would be just marvellous too.

Living the Dream
Here's my latest attempt at a sourdough loaf. Erika suggested a loaf with the subtitle "Live, Laugh, Loaves" etched into it might make a great promo image, so I did my best...
Yes We Can!!
Our current podcast "Am I Old Yet?", written and produced by me (Flloyd) since March 2021, has been blessed with a huge boost recently, thanks to the wonderful folk over at FableandFolly.com and some of their members who have been promoting it in their feeds. We now have a whole new community of people who love the show, and I'm confident that if they like AIOY, they'll also like "Baked Off!"
This is what Apple's chart says:
Your podcast Am I Old Yet? — Comedy audio drama has good performance in Apple Podcasts rankings (last 30 days):
- Position 1 in the category Comedy Fiction (Denmark)
- Position 1 in the category Comedy Fiction (South Africa)
- Position 2 in the category Comedy Fiction (Mexico)
- Position 2 in the category Comedy Fiction (New Zealand)
- Position 2 in the category Comedy Fiction (Belgium)

- Position 3 in the category Comedy Fiction (Netherlands)
- Position 4 in the category Comedy Fiction (Ireland)

All that remains now is to get "Baked Off!" up to full production, with a fully funded budget!!
Thanks so much for your support
Flloyd
ps I've added a video of me in my 'day job'...

Live Reading at the AudioDramaHUBfest
Performing a live reading of a new episode of "Am I Old Yet?" at the AudioDramaHUBfest 2024 in High Wycombe on 2nd November. Flloyd (Helen), Karim (Zeus), Erika (Janey and Apate) and Andrea (Susie and Foley artist). Fun was had by all, and when we receive the recording from the fabulous Tech Team I'll post it here.
These three fabulous voice actors are also members of the cast of "Baked Off!" so when you contribute to the crowdfunder, this is where some of your donation goes. Karim plays Pierre and Mr Pirandello, Erika is our Julianna and Andrea is the voice of Caroline. Andrea also provided our new subtitle - "Live, Laugh, Loaves". Which makes me very happy indeed!

Discord
I've set up a Discord server for donors and supporters. It's a space where we can share our thoughts about the programme, the campaign, and all things sourdough bread should you feel so inclined. Exclusively for donors and supporters.
Practice, practice, practice
After all my tripping around the country over the past two weeks, to London (Independent Podcast Awards ceremony), Leeds (VASTA Leeds Symposium, and Ruth Steinberg's Stories from the Sofa), Hull (TVC/Socials shoot) and High Wycombe (AudioDramaHub Podfest 2024), I came home on Sunday afternoon to find one quarter of a loaf in the freezer, and the huge pot of vegetable soup I'd made and slipped into the freezer before I left. So that nothing 'went off'.
So I fired up the starter (figuratively speaking) i.e. I fed it fresh flour and water, left it overnight, then yesterday I prepared the dough, and this morning I baked the fresh loaf.
It's
a wholemeal loaf, not as good as Margot's, of course.
Then headed off to the optician's for my annual checkup (no new specs needed, nothing to be done that will help...) and then to the dentist to see if the crown that fell out and was glued back in last week (for the fhird time in a month) was stable enough to leave alone until the next time it falls out.
That soup recipe may well be my contribution to the Cookbook!
I’m on my way home from the Best Audio Drama Hub Podfest ever, and that is saying something, because the other 2 were fabulous. What made this one extra special was the live performance I got to do, along with Karim, Andrea and Erika. We performed an episode of “Am I Old Yet?” specially written for the purpose. Here we are, after the event, exhausted (well I was!) but very happy to have played with these legends, and with the response we received from the audience.

Where to begin?
At the beginning, of course! Episode 1 is well underway, in spite of
the chaos downstairs where my new kitchen is being installed
TODAY!
I'm all set up in the bedroom, to crack on with editing. My Airpods are set to noise-cancelling, and I hope to have the Early Access available very soon.
Thanks so much for the support and encouragement. And please, please keep sharing the link to the campaign as far and wide as you can. Sharing is the next best thing to donating- it all helps enormously.
Take care, and stay dry - if you can!
Flloyd, and the team at Thunder's Mouth Theatre.
