Yet Another Goal Deadline, LOTS of New Zine Images and Details
🏃 Progress: 21 zines down, 10 zines remain, LOTS of new zine images and details!
Hi! 🙋♀️ Beth here.
So in the last update, I said we'd hopefully finish by April 19th. That... didn't happen. It's been over a month since then, and we're still not done. I feel awful pushing the goal back repeatedly, let alone sharing this news so late, but this should be the final time. There's been household drama and I lost my job, and then I nearly moved out of this house because of that household drama (nothing to do with Angel, she's still amazing 🧡), and we spent weeks working in the garage to give us space to get through our stored stuff... It's been a lot.
But, on the bright side, our taxes got done, and were less than I anticipated! So all of your contributions mean we now have the start to a savings account, although a good portion of it (or all of it?) will go into some desperately needed home repairs. It's also allowed us to take this time to work on the house rather than immediately rush out to look for a new job.
Our new goal to complete the Zineuary zines and get them to you is JUNE 30th (my birthday month). This is one zine per week each (fewer for Angel!), which is far more realistic and doesn't stress us out. It should even have time baked in to go through our zines again and give em a final once-over before sending them out.
Again, it pains me to say this. We really hoped to have these zines done throughout the campaign, and that's been far from the case. We have been working hard at these zines, though, and now have 18 of the 28 prompts done! And you'll be getting extra zines as we came up with some extras for some of the prompts (which explains how we have 21 zines made but only 18 prompts done).
Plus, we're super proud of what we've been making. These zines are far bigger than we ever could've expected; I think I'm at about 100 pages written so far on my own 😮 And with the remaining zines I'll probably write another 40-60 pages, and that's not including everything Angel has written and will write!
Below is our current status.
We've each completed the themes highlighted in green; checkmarks represent
the ones we've completed. If there are two checkmarks, we made an
extra zine!
Also, three of our zines are supplements for two of our games. We'll be giving those games to anyone who gets the zines from our campaign :D

Zine Sneak Peeks
Angel pointed out that we haven't shared any images from our zines since the campaign ended! I'm so sorry about that :( Here are pics from a bunch more zines, as well as a quick synopsis for each! These are in order from earliest prompts to latest. And remember, we have lots on our campaign page too (in the "Zine Status" tab, although we can't update it anymore).
Angel wrote about hers, and I wrote about mine.
Angel's Fictitious Mail-Order Catalog - Scan a Distraction & BONUS Quid Pro Quo-talog
Scan a Distraction and Quid Pro Quo-talog are my (Angel) takes on the prompt Fictitious Mail Order Catalog.
Quid Pro Quo-talog (the second image) is a zine that catalogs different lists of our creations and ways to earn them like sharing the zine, posting a photo on social media, or giving someone a compliment. I felt like this was a bit self advertisey, so when I was part way through I changed my mind and made Scan a Distraction .
I use QR codes to make a catalog of distractions for each day of the week. When you scan the code you get taken to recipes, YouTube videos, and different sites to match the vibe set up on each page. After I was done making it I decided to go ahead and finish Quid Pro Quo-talog and include both zines.
Angel's BONUS Zine Idea Generator - The Personification of the Lost and Found
The Personification of the Lost and Found was made for the Zine Idea Generator prompt. The prompt was to make a Table-Top RPG zine that creates a persona around found objects. I had previously made Free Stuff Rocks! for this prompt but I really liked this random zine generator prompt too, I wanted to include more games for the Crowdfundr fulfillment and wanted to finish this zine, so I am including it as well.
This zine is a bit of a hack of a previous game we made called There’s Always a Window. The Personification of the Lost and Found is a solo journaling RPG where you start the game after finding something lost: it could be a rock, a glove, a coin, or a discarded water bottle… anything you’ve found. You make your way through some prompt tables journaling as you go. These prompts give your lost item a bit of background and interest in which to personify it. Everything has history and maybe even a bit of magic if you take the time to see it.
Beth's Zine Idea Generator - Into the Dadverse
Into the Dadverse is a silly "game," or collection of games, in the vein of Take a Nap and Have a Cuppa Joe. Whenever you tell a dad joke, someone else tells a dad joke, or one dad finishes another dad's joke, roll a d6 and see what happens!
I wrote on one page that "Dad jokes can be told by anyone of any gender, with or without kids. By telling a dad joke, you temporarily become a dad yourself."
Angel's Fictional How-To
Guide - How to Just Make It Happen
How to Just Make It Happen is my take on the prompt Fictional How-to Guide. Though I ended up veering more towards a not really fictional how-to guide. The inspiration for this is a little Jones Soda bottle cap I keep on my bedroom door frame. It says “Doors shall soon open for you”. I put it there to show that I can just make things happen. Doors open for me every day, starting with my room door. I also share some quotes and a few personal anecdotes to finish up the zine.
Beth's Weird Holidays and
How to Celebrate Them - Mixing Mascots: More Merriment Supplement
Mixing Mascots is a game Angel and I made in about 3 hours (with help from PanickedLizard) where you pitch combos of random animals and holidays to explain why your combo works out the best. We'll be giving everyone who gets these zines a copy of the game, too, as it's required to use these zines 🥳
More Merriment adds new roll tables and game modes.
Angel's Weird Holidays and
How to Celebrate Them - Mixing Mascots: A Very Merry Un-Holiday Supplement
Mixing Mascots: A Very Merry Un-Holiday Supplement is for the prompt Weird Holidays and How to Celebrate Them. We will be giving a copy of the core game Mixing Mascots to go with this zine that adds prompts and has you making a plan for new holiday traditions.
Beth's A Thing You
Found at a Flea Market That Is Clearly Cursed - FLEE! From the Market!
FLEE! From the Market! is a 28-page zine that guides you through arriving at a cursed flea market, visiting a stall, picking an item, what curse it bestows upon you, how to break the curse, and one bonus secret thing... 🤫
I challenged myself to use each die in the standard set (d4, d6, d8, d10, d%, d12, and d20) at least once, and I pulled it off! It was a lot of fun to make and I had help from multiple people.
Angel's How to Pick Yourself Up After You've Failed Getting
Something You Really Wanted <3 - If Reality Bites, Bite Back
If Reality Bites, Bite Back is for the prompt How to pick yourself up after you've failed getting something you really wanted. It’s a poem zine about laughing back at life in those moments life tries to laugh at you.
Angel's Character Studies of Mundane Objects You Own - Photographs
Photographs is my take on the prompt Character studies of mundane objects you own. Though old photographs aren’t mundane to me, I wanted to share a poem reflecting on some old family photos.
Beth's Option 35 - The
Rambling Raconteur
The Rambling Raconteur is a storytelling game for any number of players. You're adventurers relaxing at a tavern after a grand adventure, telling the story of how you succeeded in your mission. It was very dangerous, and took a BUNCH of different plans to pull it off.
I've literally only made the cover so far and done a test print on the font inside, but it has two ways to play: solo will have you telling the story from the point of view of different adventurers, and multiplayer sees each player predict what each opponent will say on one of their turns. When someone says something another player predicted, they're eliminated until one player is left, who wins! This is subject to change as I create it, though.
Thanks so much for your patience and understanding. This has been one heck of a ride!
