Thanks for checking out the Petro Graphic Novel, the 2nd Book campaign! It’s been over seven years since I’ve crowdfunded a project, and I was excited to hear about Crowdfundr’s KidLit event and thought it would be the perfect way to launch the next Petro book.

In this sequel, Petro returns to everyday life after overturning the Flea King’s invasion (see book 1). There’s nothing much to do besides daily chores and school… which Petro finds absolutely boring. One day he meets a street dog and a new friendship blooms. Their playful fun takes a turn when his four-legged friend disappears. In his search, Petro follows clues and unravels a more significant problem that pulls him back into the mythical world of Filipino lore.

This story takes inspiration and is deeply rooted in the Philippine ethos. Characters and creatures are drawn from pre-colonial indigenous stories and folktales with a dash of influence from neighboring Asian regions. The wordless and panel-less illustrations jump off the page with lively emotion and action that appeals to readers of all ages. Ken Lamug’s illustrations and linework are beautiful and create memorable whimsical moments that readers will surely enjoy.

Book production timeline

Story development has started as of the launch of this campaign. The first digital ink will drop once the campaign has ended, and updates will be posted via Crowdfundr and my Instagram/social media pages. The last Petro book was completed in six months. Due to the current workload, I'm including additional time in these estimates. I work fast but prefer to set realistic expectations. I am a one-person operation and will be responsible for everything in design and shipping.

Fulfillment & Distribution

Upon project completion, books and rewards will be packaged and shipped from Las Vegas, Nevada. Everything will be done in-house to reduce costs. Due to the high shipping prices, I am only shipping to USA locations at this time. The service used is PRIORITY mail which typically arrives within 3-5 days. The minimum cost for USPS priority mail is $10.00.

Petro and the Flea King was selected for the 2020 Library of Congress National Book Festival by the Nevada Humanities.   Every year at the National Book Festival , the Library of Congress’ Center for the Book features a book from each of its affiliate Centers for the Book, representing their local literary heritage either from a state or territory of the United States.
