Six String Nation Projects Inc. supports the activities of Jowi Taylor and the Six String Nation guitar. The guitar at the heart of the project, Voyageur, is literally built from material pieces of history representing a wide array of cultures, communities, characters and events from every province and territory of Canada. The guitar made its debut on Canada Day 2006 on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in the hands of Stephen Fearing, Colin James, Michel Pagliaro, Stars, Jean-Francois Breau, Kyle Riabko, Aselin Debison, Mighty Popo, Tom Wilson, Colin Linden and many others. Over the past two decades it has been played by countless artists across the country - from students to gifted amateurs to some of Canada's most beloved music artists. In addition, a unique portrait project with photographer Doug Nicholson has captured images of some 15,000 different people holding the guitar.

Jowi's multimedia presentation about the instrument's conception, origins, construction and travels has inspired audiences young and old in communities throughout Canada and as far away as Italy and Arizona and his 2009 book about the project for publisher Douglas & McIntyre has now sold nearly 10,000 copies.

The project has inspired songwriters, recording projects, students, artists, educators and led to the creation of all kinds of things: from math problems and ESL exercises in textbooks to a coin from the Royal Canadian Mint to a limited edition beer for Henderson's Brewing. In 2015, Jowi received Canada's Meritorious Service Medal from the Governor-General for his work on the project.

Six String Nation has applications in music, theatre, education and new media. We are currently in the process of developing a digital twin of Voyageur for web, kiosk and immersive exhibit engagements.
