Honey B Artist Biography
Jamaican-Canadian Artist Honey B born Brittanique Honeyghan is an R&B singer-songwriter and rapper based in Toronto, Canada. She began singing and songwriting at the age of 12 to cope with isolation and abuse. Since the age of 16, she has experienced periods of homelessness, staying in shelters and in compromising and often dangerous environments due to her toxic and abusive home life. Despite these struggles creating anxiety, depression, and complex PTSD, she remains committed to her personal growth and development, using music as a positive and safe outlet for self-expression and transformation.
Through her creative expression, she has found ways to reclaim her voice, strength, and identity. This can be heard in her up-tempo and striking hip-hop single “Forward", released in 2021. Honey B understands the power music has in connecting people and crossing borders as well as the personal cognitive benefits to heal, inspire, transforming, and empowering. This philosophy is reflected in her latest post-breakup meditative single “Typical”. Her first recorded R&B single “Baddie" was released in 2020 as an introductory statement showcasing her unique vocals and empowering lyrics for the ladies to focus on completing their goals and have a “Baddie Mindset” while doing it.
Her musical influences and inspirations include Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse, Summer Walker, Nicki Minaj, Eve, Kehlani, and Riyah. In 2015 she performed Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” at the Ursula Franklin Academy high school talent show. After receiving a standing ovation from the crowd, this moment became instrumental in fueling her passion to become an established Music artist. She landed her first performance and acting role as Deena from the classic broadway musical ‘Dreamgirls’ at the University of Toronto where she attended to pursue her B.A in Political Science, Sociology, and Philosophy. Her three-night sold-out performance at the Artscape theatre in Toronto landed her a nomination for the 2017 Dougie Awards for best actress.
To date, she has amassed over 550,000 streams on Spotify in over 170 different countries with an all-time high of 10,433 monthly listeners and over 1,000,000+ streams across platforms.
