Detective Dick Quick is a campy, glam-soaked mockumentary comedy that reimagines the detective genre through a queer, nostalgic lens.Set in the present-day Twin Cities, styled like a lost 70s TV pilot, the film blends the cheeky charm of Columbo with the slapstick timing of I Love Lucy . | ![]() |
It’s bright, bold, and unapologetically playful; a love letter to retro television, drag culture, and the ongoing search for self.
Told through a documentary crew following Dick Quick: detective by day, drag king by night the story unfolds with deadpan interviews, staged “reenactments,” and spontaneous moments of absurd honesty. When Quick stumbles into the underground world of a drag crime ring, the lines between reality, performance, and identity blur in hilarious and heartfelt ways.
Detective Dick Quick celebrates transformation, queerness, and the joy of performing your truth, wrapped in polyester, glitter, and just the right amount of chaos.
BUDGET
Here's a breakdown of our fundraising goals and what they mean for us:
- $20,000 for Cast and Crew Labor on-set for 6 days
- $20,000 for Production Expenses, on-set for 6 days
- $10,000 for Post-Production, Marketing, Distribution
- $10,000 for Contingency, Insurance, Legal, etc.
We're not in this business to screen our projects just in our parent's living rooms. The only way we're going to get our film seen by the masses (gays et al.) is if we have your help.
A detailed budget is available to contributors upon request.
So, you're ready to help us? We knew it. Thank you! We'd kiss you on the cheek, but you're reading this on the internet. So, raincheck?
What started as a joke, this completely serious and comedic detective series emulates the things we love best from shows like Columbo, Murder She Wrote, and even Brooklyn Nine-Nine, in the style of our favorite mockumentary series' like The Office, What We Do In The Shadows, Modern Family, and Abbott Elementary.
Thank you for supporting us, and getting to the end of this section. Please share with your communities, we can only grow with all of your help.
🪩 Isaac & Alex

![]() | DETECTIVE DICK QUICK KAT YOUNG appearing as DICK VON DYKE Detective Dick Quick is a bumbling detective who moonlights as a drag king. He's an avid beginner pickleball player, and loves finding a lost item.
About Kat With a degree in French horn performance, a background in classical music, and the timing of a seasoned comic, Dick Von Dyke is not your average king. His performances are equal parts Broadway revue, queer history lesson, and gender satire—a blend he uses to challenge binary thinking and promote visibility.
| ![]() | LAVERNE N. CHURLEY (Priscilla Es Yuicy) Laverne is Dick's assistant in the detective agency. She mainly takes appointments for her nail business, but helps Dick take calls about lost items for him to find. She's secretly the Mother of the House of the Drag Mob, but Dick hasn't a clue.
About Priscilla Priscilla Es Yuicy is your local celebrity drag queen dancing her way through Minneapolis! Well known for hosting and producing shows with Lush Lounge & Theatre, The Saloon and Flip Phone Events around the city, you’re sure to catch her kicking and splitting no doubt.

About Salty Salty is about embracing the fringe, being expressive all the way to the back of the room, and everything punk. A Transexual Terror to the end and a full force of faggotry on stage he aims to show an expansive range of what masculinity is and can be. | ![]() | SPLASH (Splash!) Splash is obsessed with her looks, and we get it. She's gorgeous. Unfortunately, she doesn't really pay attention when she needs to, so when the Drag Mob gave her the bank heist assignment she set off not one, but several dye bombs.
