MISSION STATEMENT:
AC⚡️LV: Arts & Culture Las Vegas is a new quarterly print magazine celebrating the diverse creative community that powers Las Vegas. From artists to acrobats, poets to philanthropists, designers to drag queens, we introduce you to the personalities behind the spectacle. Our mission is to elevate local talent, connect readers to the scene, and help sustain the culture happening now.
THE MAGAZINE:
This beautiful print magazine will be coffee table size & quality at 9.25" wide by 12.5" tall, 72 pages and full gloss 100lb paper throughout. It is printed locally in Las Vegas by VGM, inc, who also publishes QLife Media periodicals like QVegas. Our Publisher is Slonina ARTSpace, our Editor is Robin Slonina. Art direction will be provided by Craig Meland of CM2 Design.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER:
Robin Slonina has dreamed of creating an art magazine for nearly three decades. Her journey began in Chicago, where she wrote for SAIC’s F Magazine and contributed to the iconic New Art Examiner, then freelanced as an arts reporter for NPR radio.
As her art career took off, it led her around the world, creating art installations and murals while backpacking through Europe & driving her van across the USA.
When Robin landed in Las Vegas in 2005, she launched Skin City, which quickly became one of the largest bodyart companies in the country. That momentum led to Skin Wars, the bodypainting competition series she helped create, produce, and judge, alongside RuPaul, Craig Tracy & Rebecca Romijn.
Through it all, Robin never let go of her dual loves: writing & spotlighting local artists. In Las Vegas, she became a committed advocate for the creative community—joining the Arts District board, serving as Artist Liaison for Meow Wolf, and opening Slonina ARTSpace in August of 2023. In just over two years, ARTSpace has exhibited work by 400 local creatives.
Now, as Editor of AC⚡️LV, Robin is ready to take this art off the walls and onto the page—bringing Las Vegas talent to an even wider audience. Her years in Las Vegas broadened her vision of what "art" is, however. This will not only showcase all the various visual arts, but will embrace the entire Vegas creative community of writers, show people, costumers, choreographers, behind the scenes talent and more.
WHERE YOU COME IN:
Funds raised here will give us the running start to launch & distribute the first issues of AC⚡️LV Magazine and build the systems we need to make the magazine profitable & self-sustaining. Our continuing business plan includes advertising, wholesale & retail sales, plus quarterly launch parties for each issue.
Your support will help us cover production on this beautiful, 72-page, oversized 9.25" X 12.5" coffee table quality publication, printed on 100lb glossy paper throughout. Funds raised will pay local writers, photographers & artists; support distribution, social media & marketing; and cover operations. This is a give-back project: every dollar raised goes right back into the Las Vegas creative community. We will print locally, pay local writers & photographers, and give working artists, performers and other creatives a platform that leads to real visibility & opportunities.
