Mossrose Bookshop is a Latina-owned pop-up bookstore in Houston, Texas, specializing in romance. Our goal is to create a vibrant, inclusive space for romance lovers to connect, celebrate love stories, and fuel their passion for reading. We embrace community, empathy, and the magic of every page.

About Me

My name is Andrea and I am the owner of Mossrose Bookshop. Mossrose is a huge passion project of mine and I have absolutely loved growing this community! One of my absolute favorite places in the world to be is in a bookstore, finding my next romance read. My goal is to create the feeling I have in bookstores for every one of my customers. I love helping people find their perfect fit and cannot wait to do that on a larger scale as we open a brick and mortar location.

I focus on romance because this genre encourages me to continually see good in people and believe in happy endings. I believe romance novels are about more than just the romantic relationship between lovers, but also about the platonic relationships that contribute to a full life and a well-rounded story. As Mossrose has grown, I have been able to include more books on my shelves that focus on all types of relationship dynamics and I hope to continue to expand those options for my customers. 

I am looking to expand Mossrose into a brick and mortar store for a few reasons: I want to serve a community which is deeply underserved in Houston, while helping readers find stories that reflect their experiences, and promoting independent authors whose voices bring those experiences center stage.

I grew up in Houston and love this city and cannot wait to create the space I wish had been available to me when I needed it.

Why We Need Funding

Building a bookshop from the ground up isn’t for the faint of heart—or the faint of wallet! While we’ve been thriving as a pop-up, spreading the love of books one cozy market at a time, transitioning to a full brick-and-mortar shop is a different chapter altogether. The truth? We’ve got the heart, the hustle, and the vision—but not  quite  the funds. YET!

That’s where you come in. Your support will help us cover the essentials: startup costs, shelves and furniture (because books deserve to shine), fresh stock, and a cushion for payroll as we find our rhythm. This funding will give us the pathway to create the kind of space where stories are discovered and communities come together.
