Imagine a world almost entirely the same as our own, except someone's magical wish to meet the dinosaurs came true. But after the welcome party, what were they all to do? Well, they went on to have regular modern lives alongside our own; bills to pay, families to feed, jobs to work. Most unfortunately of all, though, they have cars to drive–and none of them are really any good at it.

That’s what happens when you’re a 12-foot tall reptile with big legs and tiny arms, it’s just really hard to fit into a compact economy-size sedan and even harder to operate the dang thing.

That's the world of Dinocar!

In Dinocar, you and as many friends as you can gather will work together to map out a snippet of that world. You’ll paint a map, draw landmarks, slap buildings into place, and take turns going on chaotic road trips and commutes. At the end of a game of Dinocar, you’ll have a story to tell and a wonderful map to either frame on the wall or stick to the fridge.

Dinocar isn't just a tabletop role-playing game, it's also an art-making game for people of all ages! Inspired by Maxine Scheen's Bad Maps,  it takes the idea of making a map as you tell a story and turns it into a whole abstract art-making adventure! Here are the highlights:

Julie-Anne "JAM" Muñoz(she/they) - Design, Layout, Art Jam is a queer, Latine artist with a passion for colorful design. She's known for her ARPIA award-winning work on Logan and her ENNIE-nominated layout for NOVA. She's an illustrator, layout artist, game designer, and co-founder of Dinoberry Press. Her favorite dinosaur is the Stegosaurus!

Nevyn Holmes (they/he) - Design, Editing, PM Nevyn is a nonbinary game designer that loves making weird, experimental designs. They designed GUN&SLINGER, Justicar, and co-founded Dinoberry Press. Their main goal in game design is to create projects that focus on feeling, story, and using the medium in fresh ways. His favorite dinosaur is the Compsognathus!

Jess Kuczynski (she/he) - Cover Artist Jess is a bundle of stardust that coalesced to form a nerdy illustrator from the Midwest. Jess creates cute, colorful artwork that showcases a wide range of body types and gender expressions. When asked about her favorite dinosaur she answered: “uuuuhhh I don’t know, maybe the triceratops?”

Viditya Voleti (he/him) - Dino Artist Viditya is a QPOC, South Asian, interactive artist and game designer who loves to mess with play and interactive media! You can find his work at vidityavoleti.itch.io , and follow him on Twitter! Viditya's favorite dinosaurs are Velociraptors and Pachycephalosaurus!

Korben Dennis (they/them) - Dino Artist Korben is a transnonbinary experimental & street artist that practices living life through and with queer art, villainy, and intimacy. Their favorite informally-named dinosaur is the Kunmingosaurus, a form of sauropod. 🦕 Bold name.

James Docherty (he/him) - Dino Artist James is a graphic designer and video maker based out of the United Kingdom. Best known for his youtube channel HOTCYDER that analyzes video, digital, and tabletop games. His favorite dinosaur is the Dilophosaurus.

Our goal for Dinocar is to raise $2,200 to pay ourselves, our artists, and to produce print versions of the game.

The budget is split up like this:

• $200 to Nevyn and Jam for design, editing, and layout
• $500 for the remaining interior and exterior art
• $450 for packing materials and business expenses
• $433 for taxes and platform fees
• $417 for printing & production

The bulk of the work for Dinocar is already complete- it's fully playable and we're just doing some more testing and making some final changes, then we'll be giving it a full editing pass and working on the remaining art pieces as Jam works on the layout.

Delivery for Dinocar is slated to be as soon as possible, with physical copies likely going out as soon as they arrive. Depending on how long printing and production takes, we're aiming to ship out late March to early May.

What if the goal isn't reached?

This campaign is using Crowdfundr's "keep it all" fund-raising method, which means even if we don't reach the goal we still receive the funding contributed! This is a great option for us because it means that, no matter what, we receive at least some of the funding upfront to make Dinocar a reality.

For full transparency, even if we don't reach the goal we will still be producing the print versions, but we won't be ordering them until after our major March project is fully fulfilled, meaning delivery will likely be after July. This is due in equal parts to time and money: our focus will be primarily on the other project, and we'll need time to pay for print & artists out of pocket.
