WHAT IS THIS?

Ever think the "Elf on the Shelf" doll was... kinda creepy?... Those blank eyes that stare into your soul, that grin on his face like he knows your deepest and darkest secrets. Well... we thought how fun would it be to make a horror short film around the idea of the "Elf on the Shelf". But not just any horror flick, a Christmas horror comedy flick! It's quite a combination, but let's be honest, it's the right combination; Goofy & Gory.

For legal reasons, this will not be the exact "Elf on the Shelf" - this will be an all original take on the doll we all know and love, kinda.

We are lovers of the campy-horror genre and this short film was written with the love of all things campy: written by camp horror fans, for camp horror fans.

How did this idea come to be?

Out of the love of making movies, telling stories, and building kooky little worlds. We thought how fun it would be to go all in on a puppet based horror film.

We love when movies choose practical effects over CGI - don't get that twisted, we LOVE some good VFX. However, practical always takes the cake (the jankier, the funnier). So, we wanted to challenge ourselves with that very notion.

But.. what is it even about?

On Christmas Eve, Jacob and Clara receive an unexpected gift after Jacob's grandmother passes; a grotesque elf doll that turns their night from passively festive to an aggressively chaotic, unending nightmare. With their wits crumbling like a sad cookie, can they survive?

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We are raising money so that we can:

Pay our cast & crew members a fair rate, since so many of them will be giving up hours at their real jobs to film spanning a week.
Rent/invest in the proper film, sound, and lighting equipment we need to create our vision
Build and create an original puppet to be our festive hell-spawn.
Most importantly, feed our cast and crew members on set.
Pay our post production crew (VFX artist & colorist)

Our goal is $9k for the entire production and if we are able to go beyond this goal, that puts more money in our hard working cast & crew's pockets as well as lead to a better post production (vfx, music, foley, etc). This is something we can only do with your help!

What's the TIMELINE and when can we get our rewards?

We wrapped filming in November.
- We will still be using the money as we get it to keep the production up and running while making sure we are taking care of our cast & crew throughout our post-production process.
The goal is to send this baby out on Friday, November 1st, 2024!
All Shipping Rewards will be sent out within two to three weeks of the premiere date (this detail will be finalized as we get closer)!
