Crawlers are the only shoes ergonomically designed for crawling: they have two soles and mirror the shape of a crawling babies foot.

Have you ever had a hard time wrestling your baby into shoes? Watched their shoes fall off as your baby crawls away? We sure have, but with a wooden deck we needed to protect our baby from the tiny slivers they got in the summer, and the wet feet they got in the winter, thus the creation of Crawlers.

Baby shoes fall off because they are just miniature walking shoes, designed for people who walk. They have hard soles on the bottom and fasteners on the tops that get dragged though the mud. They are uncomfortable for babies, and dig into their Achilles tendons, and when babies point their toes and crawl, their tiny heels slide out and then there you are picking up shoes as your baby crawls away in their socks.

Innovation as a necessity

Crawlers are the only shoe of its kind, using a patent-pending design that will stay snug on your babies foot because it is made to mirror the shape of a crawling foot. Crawlers are a breeze to slip onto even the chubbiest of feet. The wide adjustable opening allows a baby's foot to slip in easily, and lets the ankle move as their toes point. We turned shoes on their head by putting the sole on top of the foot to protect tiny toes as they explore wet or rough terrain. Crawlers come with easy-to-adjust back fasteners allowing easy access to caregivers, but not baby. Crawlers are designed so they don't pinch toes or squish feet, and allow babies freedom to move in comfort.

Learning to crawl is important to a child's mental development as well as their physical growth and gives them confidence and encourages learning through play. As parents we believe that freedom to be outside and have your children protected from the scratches, prickles and the elements is important for the mental and physical health of the whole family.

Crawlers are made of soft natural materials and allows skin to breathe. 

Who we are

I'm Rebecca, and I’m a mother of two young boys. I live and work on the unceded territory of the K'omoks people traditionally known as the Pentlatch, Sahtloot, Sasitla and Leeksun. Boogie Boots is not partnered or affiliated with any other production or sales corporation.

Boogie Boots started because after a very frustrating day in the snow with my youngest son's shoes and boots continually falling off, I lay awake visualizing what I needed and realized that common baby shoes are just not designed for crawling babies. I have been blessed to work with my friend Jade Jordan of Tez Designs, who also has small kids, to help craft a design that fuses logic and elegance, and delivers on quality and practicality. Brenton Walters, father of two, is head of marketing and together we are launching Boogie Boots, to bring Crawlers to your families. 

We believe parents and caregivers should have the best for their children and there is no other baby shoe as practical and stylish as our Crawlers.

We don't have enough money to do this alone, but with your help in pre-ordering a pair of Crawlers or donating to this campaign, we can get this company off the ground so that more babies will be able to crawl with comfortable feet. Pre-ordering demonstrates support and provides capital so Boogie Boots can launch production and bring these shoes to more babies.

Crawlers are handmade in Vancouver by Wearlab, and the summer line is made using canvas and ethical leather. We will offer winter crawlers too, but first we need to sell the first 200 pairs. This initiative isn't just about shoes; it’s about giving babies freedom to explore and giving parents a quality product designed to help their child learn and grow in comfort.
