Vancouver Mural Festival is organized by Create Vancouver Society, a Registered Non-Profit dedicated to artistic and cultural development in the Lower Mainland. Through the creation of permanent large-scale public murals, we provide a platform for Vancouver's diverse art scene to contribute to the city’s cultural legacy for years to come. Our annual festival takes place for a week in August in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, and we work throughout the year with neighborhoods around the Lower Mainland to highlight the local culture and vibrance of their area. Our events and public art installations serve as catalysts for addressing many of the socio-cultural issues facing our city and artistic communities. These include, but are not limited to: public art policy, community building, environmental policy, reconciliation with First Nations, artistic censorship, diversity, cost of living, and the need for culturally sustainable development practices. |
We recognize that our event and murals are produced on the
traditional unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm
(Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and
səlil̓wətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. We
strive to incorporate the visual culture of these nations in
our festival. We see our murals as an effective way to
celebrate our diverse local cultures and their histories, with
special focus on providing a platform for the local
Nations' contemporary and traditional cultural expressions and histories.

Wishes
We want to make sure that whilst we are paining outside with nature we ensure we use the highest quality paints available to ensure our artists pieces last but also to make sure any residue doesn't cause harm to the wildlife around it! Some of the artwork is almost the size of a football field so requires a lot of paint, we would love you to donate towards our paints and keep our community toxic free!
Your $50 will help purchase the high quality brushes that are needed to paint outdoor murals. The scale of the art requires a number of different techniques to be used, many special tools are required. You can be a part of these wonderful creations by making a donation today.
Every Mural we paint we want it to last and that requires preparation, ensuring that the walls we paint on are clean and ready to receive their new design, this is a crucial stage of the process and requires the areas to be throuroughly cleabed with environmentally products so that they can be washed into the surrounding areas without causing damage. This cleaning often requires us to rent equipment so we would greatly appreciate your help. Be a part of making sure these murals last!
