Project Story:
On February 24, 2022, life for Ukrainians all over the world changed forever. A war, erupted by the Russian Government tries to embezzle Ukrainian life and culture. This war does not only affect Ukraine, it has harmed so many levels of global society. Stand Free or Submit is a feature length documentary that showcases the life of Ukrainians, but also explains why the war is relevant for the western world.
A series of interviews will be conducted throughout Canada,
Europe, and of course Ukraine. In Kyiv, we will be following the
life of a university student who is from a city that has been turned
to rubble by the Russian military.
Participants:
Yaroslava, our protagonist has lived through war with Russia since 2014. She was born and raised in Mariupol, a now rubble city. Yaroslava has since migrated to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine where she continues to do her university program while living through a war.
Additionally we will interview university professors who focus on topics related to the war such as: Iryna Konstantiuk, David Froc, Magda Blackmore, Leonie Ansmems De Vries, and many other scholars.
Financial experts will be interviewed as well for further analysis on the global impacts of this war.
Our priority with Stand Free or Submit is to directly help Ukrainians and a portion of our donations will be going to several Ukrainian charities and volunteer organizations in Kyiv. We will additionally be donating medical supplies to Ukrainian Army brigades.
Charity donations will be openly disclosed and shared through behind the scenes content. Stay tuned for more updates!
Our mission is to not only create awareness for Ukrainians during this difficult time but also directly improve the situations of people in Ukraine.

Timeline Description:
Timeline Description:Stand free or submit has been developing since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Max Khomenko, the director, has been very determined on creating the story of Ukrainian life while living under war.
Pre-production has consisted of initially creating a story outline and structure to the documentary. Finally it was set in stone, Stand free or submit would be a feature documentary. Afterwards, we found people to interview and base our story around. From there, we had to purchase tickets to fly and stay across Canada, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Poland, and finally Ukraine.
The final details of pre-production included planning shooting styles, shot lists, and other technical specifics.
Production will consist of flying all over the world with a small crew to collect professional, valuable opinions regarding this war. Throughout all the cities we will film in, financial experts, economists, Ukrainians, and others will be interviewed.
When we arrive in Kyiv, our focus of filming will be on Yaroslava, the film's protagonist.
Post-production will start when the production team is in Europe. Footage will constantly have to be uploaded to various online servers and in-house editors will begin making minor cuts to the film.
The post process is long, and detail-oriented. Our plan is to finish a cut of our film within the start of November. Following this, we will begin distribution of our film and have it ready for the world to see!
