The Counterbalance
I have been holding a canoe paddle for nearly fifty years. In that time, the rhythm of wood pulling through water has become my second heartbeat. My passion for documenting these wild spaces was sparked years ago by my father, and today, whether I'm traversing the Canadian Shield or camping with my own family, that multi-generational connection to the outdoors remains my anchor.
But we cannot all live permanently in the woods. We inevitably return to the noise, to industry, and to the relentless pace of our modern lives. That necessary return is where this project was born.
Through my work withNorth of Wendigoand local conservation groups, I've realized that art is our bridge back to the wild. It is the counterbalance to modern industry. However, you cannot fiercely protect what you do not know, and you cannot love what you have never seen. I am creatingCanadian Shorelinesas a physical, offline invitation to experience the fragile beauty of our waterways. My goal as a creator is to move beyond the digital screen and place a tangible piece of environmental advocacy directly into your hands.
The Zine & The Rewards
Canadian Shorelinesis a premium, 32-page fine-art photography collection designed with the aesthetic of a vintage conservation field guide. The sequence builds a physical narrative of water and season, moving seamlessly from the bright summer heat of Georgian Bay to the stark, frozen cliffs of Algonquin’s backcountry. Rather than standard captions, each image is paired with a poetic reflection on our responsibility to the earth.

The Funding
Traditional publishing places a wall between the artist and the audience. Crowdfunding removes the gatekeepers entirely, allowing us to bring this project to life independently. I am running this campaign independently to maintain full creative control over the printing process and to connect directly with the community that supports this work.
How the $1,800 CAD Goal is Used:The photography is complete, the sequence is locked, and the layout is print-ready. Your funding will be used exclusively for:
