Gallant Knight Games hasn't added a story.
Fair warning: This game has rude words, lots of violence, and is not for young kids. Seriously. Be responsible.
The Overview
Let's keep it simple.
- This is a 20 page wrestling zine.
- It's powered by a hack of Mork Borg.
- It's designed to emulate 90's hardcore wrestling in a pretty haphazard fashion.
- It's for 2-3 players (I mean, you could do more, but that's on you).
- I wrote it so I could work with my buddy HodagRPG (who did all the art).
- My friend Kris McClanahan from Deeply Dapper did all the layout in the 90s magazine style, so it looks hardcore .
- I was also able to use a lot of rude words, which is always fun for me.
The Plan
The PDF is done. We've got a printer lined up. However, we are using this campaign for two things:
Fulfillment Practice
First (and most importantly), we want to test a new Crowdfunding fulfillment integration that uses the GKG webstore. That's the primary "business" thrust of this campaign. We're a small team (Alan full-time, and Erin part-time), and fulfillment is a pain. Being able to do it through the GKG webstore would be a huge help.
When we fulfill GVW, we will be sending you an email from the GKG webstore that will give you a free copy of the rewards.
- If you have digital rewards, you'll get a copy in the GKG webstore as well as from DriveThruRPG!
- If you are getting a print copy, you will be able to check out and pay shipping through the GKG webstore, which will give you the best rate from the US (we have to ship from the US though), as well as make it the easiest possible fulfillment on us.
Getting It Out
Originally, I'd intended to only release this via zine trade, where folks would have to send or trade me a zine to get a copy (no digital component). As fun as that gimmick is, it makes the game hard to get for folks, and I firmly believe everyone should have a chance to get RPGs released by GKG and myself (though who knows if I'll change my mind one day).
What's in the Zine?
- A handful of archetypes (Bruiser, Hardcore Legend, Ring General, Aerial Assassin, and more).
- Random weapon tables.
- Random gear tables.
- Random location, promotion, and pay-per-view tables.
- Some in-universe wrestler bios (with statblocks hidden in them!)
- Awesome art from HodagRPG.
- Awesome magazine inspired layout from Krazy Kris.
What's NOT in the Zine?
- Extensive NPC lists.
- Detailed rules.
- Solo rules (sorry).
- Tight editing (we were focused on having fun with the DIY bit. There's probably a few errors, sorry).
- Polite language.
- Material for marks.
The Team
Fair warning, Alan wrote all these bios.
"Bronco Al" Bahr
"Bronco Al" Bahr is the Midwestern born and raised son of the tundra. While he serves as enhancement talent for a variety of ttrpg promotions, he primarily is known for running the indie production "Gallant Knight Games", outta Fargo, North Dakota. A big, bearded, bald, bruiser, Bronco Al's finisher is the Dakotan Destroyer, a standing short-arm lariat. The best way to get on his bad side is to confuse lariats and clotheslines. The worst way to get on his bad side is to diss the spear.
HodagRPG
A creative mastermind, HodagRPG lurks in the night, frequenting fly-by-night operations where his extreme style really gets the audience going. No one can spill ink quite like HodagRPG, and he knows it. From Parts Unknown, HodagRPG's finisher is the Hodag Dagger, a jacknife powerbomb done from the ringpost. The best way to get on HodagRPG's good side is to support his rpgs on itch.io. The worst way to get on his bad side is to not back this Crowdfundr.
"Krazy Kris" McClanahan
An artist and bon vivant, well-known on the travelling circuit for his presentation. Fascinated with the weird, esoteric, and occult, Krazy Kris often can be found studying the art of soap and candle making, doodling strange cryptids (a feature that he shares with HodagRPG), or watching obscure horror flicks on late-night TV. You can find his work at DeeplyDapper. His finisher is a flapjack punch dubbed the "Deeply Disturbing".
