About This Page & Crowdfunding For Creative Projects

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is collecting small amounts of money from many people to fund a project, with or without providing something to those people in return.

The term ‘crowdfunding’ is relatively new – the first recorded use was in 2006 – but the concept is not. In 1885, Joseph Pulitzer of The New York World newspaper called on city citizens to help build a pedestal for the Statue of Liberty, which it still stands on today. This story is an excellent example of people banding together for something they care about, for if the city didn’t come up with the funding, there was a risk of the statue being moved somewhere else.

New York World and Pulitzer raised the money they needed from thousands of people, with most contributing less than a dollar.

Over one hundred and twenty years later, crowdfunding became more commonplace with the rise of online platforms designed to help people raise funds for a project from as many people as they can market to. ConnectionPoint – the company behind the Crowdfundr platform – was among the first, beginning in 2008 (as did Kickstarter) and releasing FundRazr, our flagship platform, in 2009 (the same year as IndieGoGo).

What is Crowdfundr for Crowdfunding Creative Projects?

Once upon a time, FundRazr ran campaigns for any and all projects thrown at it: fundraising for social good, personal campaigns for health and help, creative projects, etc. After over a decade, we at ConnectionPoint realized those crowdfunding creative projects had different needs in a platform, and the others available no longer met those needs.

So, we worked with some passionate creators to redesign the FundRazr platform based on these unique requirements, and Crowdfundr was born.

Who is Crowdfundr for?

Anyone interested in crowdfunding for creative projects! We have comic book artists, authors, filmmakers, TTRPG designers, photographers, musicians, journalists, theatre companies, fashion designers, culinary artists… the list goes on.

Whether you’re well-established with a substantial following, lots of products, well-versed in crowdfunding strategy or a fledgling creator with an idea who’s brand-new to this entire concept, Crowdfundr is for you. Creators use Crowdfundr to fund the production of their projects, new spaces to create in, materials to create with, develop prototypes, or even just to spread their brand awareness.

What is the Creator HUB?

You creators should spend most of your spare time (if you have any) creating the projects you love! Who wants to spend hours and hours researching crowdfunding for creative projects?

We do! So, we did it for you. We take what we know from our fifteen-ish years in this industry, plus some research of our own, to gift our users everything needed to create, run, and fulfill a successful crowdfunding project.
