Support RedNews Fanzine and SAVE the mag for 25/26. Target 425 subscribers.
Dear Red,
We hope you're doing ok. Feel free to drop us a line whenever, even just to vent United things, or stop for a chat when we're selling. About anything, big or small. Just take care of yourselves, that's all that matters.
And thank you so much for your kind support to RedNews, then and now. Fiercely independent and unofficial and we're proud of that. Still.
And now... WE NEED YOU.
Today is the 38th anniversary of RedNews - where does time go?! - from humble beginnings on April 20th 1987 to hopefully still humble non-endings now... as after internalising MUFC's ongoing impact on decent United fans, we want to carry on and keep fighting for YOU, for better. Thank you so much to every reader, contributor and seller who has helped the mag over the years.
A fanzine doing fanzine things. We won't always agree. We maintain that's healthy.
But we need you again, more than ever. We believe in having fanzines around, a visual reminder to the powers that be at each and every home game (having now sold at 1200 MUFC matches!) that fans are as important as ever - but we can't continue without your support. WE NEED YOU. You are the mag backers; no big business behind us, no sponsors, just our wonderful readers and MUFC community who don't just get the fanzines, but actually support them by getting them!
YOU can make a substantial difference TODAY for next season supporting something truly unique, run for fans, by fans, by subscribing for the season ahead and saving the fanzine for 25/26. Thank you!
The target is once again 425 subscribers to carry on - a huge target for us, so please be one of those who sign up, if you are able.
You can sub, gift a 2nd sub to a Red in need, and donate anything; for if you are able to support, it means the world to us and gets us towards our target during what we know are difficult times.
We will NOT be raising the price of the mag, nor the cost of a UK sub, for next season. Rises for Europe and ROW Print are due to yet more post increases, and we now, sadly, suggest non UK readers and all Reds in Ireland consider a PDF sub instead because of ongoing non UK post issues (we can walk you through it and send you a test email to see if it's for you, just let me know at feedback@rednews.co.uk). We want to keep printing, so UK readers please support that version if you like it. You can donate extra if you wish or gift a sub. Absolutely any support is appreciated, and helps, every penny matters and goes towards the mag, which I am sure you know by now, is a labour of love for us.
This season alone we have again fought club excess; the £66 farce, the attacks on Season Ticket holders and awful rises and moves on concessions for new types of 'customer' the club seek at odds with what Utd actually needs.
We will keep fighting club excess, and also try to have a laugh along the way, as well as showcasing YOUR stories (get writing!) and views.
It's down to YOU though, not others if we carry on. We can't do any of this without you, and that is YOU ; it's incredibly difficult in this day and age to produce a fanzine but we also think there's nothing quite like our mag out there and it's worth keeping around. Just still being here, doing what we do. We think it's still a good and important thing if RedNews is here, in the exact same spots we started at. And we value YOU and YOUR support.
We run this annual campaign to know we can cover costs for the whole year ahead with daft rising costs, some of which arrive unexpectedly; it means we are secure for the whole season rather than worrying about our future, mag to mag.
And yes, we passionately believe, like many of you do, that fanzines are as important as ever.
RedNews has been fighting for MUFC supporters for 38 years. We want to keep doing that.
Support us now please or we are gone for good. We have to make that 425 target. Despite all the changes, we still love what we do and love our readers and MUFC, if not the suits who come and go.
We're still a fanzine. No more, no less. The way we like it.
We often hear 'support the fanzines' , 'we will miss them when they are gone' - so this is the opportunity, the moment, to support that, if you can, to back that saying up by supporting the fanzines and subbing to RedNews NOW.
- A number of options are available for you to SUPPORT AND SAVE RED NEWS for 25/26;
- A PRINT SUB
- A PDF by email SUB.
- DONATE. (anything
helps and no amount is too small. It all goes on costs)
- A
PRINT SUB and DONATE a 2nd subscription to a Red who might be in need.
(you can let us know who, or we will choose as we'll be collating a
list all summer, please get in touch if your circumstances have
changed, no detail required, just if the mag might help right now, or
if you know an older Red impacted by the ticket price rises who may
appreciate the mag next season).
And if we reach target we promise to put everything into each mag like we always do; caring, a visible presence each and every home game. We try to adapt, we always try, and we care; about you, our club, our community. The great parts that make up our MUFC.
Please know this, we appreciate every single reader, all of you, near, or far, those who email us thoughts, letters or those who just like reading the thoughts of other Reds. So please get involved if you have the time. If we have talked of an article idea in the past, please complete it if you can, or if you have a great idea/story - original and good - we'd love to receive it! (feedback@rednews.co.uk)
- We will carry new stories from Reds who have never written in before, a platform for YOU, a vibrant and passionate fanbase, as well as regulars. Material in RedNews does not appear anywhere else.
Of course MUFC life would carry on without us, but it would surely mean a small but significant gap where we should be each matchday and a bit less of MUFC fan culture - and we're not ready to call it quits yet. You supporting the campaign and its fixed goal supports the continued publication of the magazine.
If you enjoy absolutely any aspect of our fanzine - the podcasts, the forum, our social media, or just simply get what we are about and believe in fanzines - we need YOU, NOW!
Why sub? Why should the mag continue? You're supporting something truly independent and unique in a multinational, grey world! You are supporting passion and emotion ahead of those who show no empathy. You are supporting alternative independence.
So our annual campaign is now open. The target is 425 Reds being met over the next three months. The campaign ends on July 31st 2025. We really hope we can make that target and carry on. To do that then, we need your support.
And please spread the word, it helps massively to those who value having fanzines around.
If our campaign site/payment links aren't for you, you can also send a bank transfer (just email for details) or a cheque to Red News, Unit 136, Mail Boxes, 19 Lever Street, Manchester, M1 1AN
And thanks for reading this much. We believe in you, what MUFC should be about, and its fantastic community, still, and that you've allowed us to have a go these past 38 years means so much. We've not always got it right, but we have always tried and cared, and your support means the world to us so I can't thank you enough.
If you supported the campaign last year, you have one more mag left on your sub (out May 11th), and if you sub before then we will add the new sub onto your existing one.
We think it's great still being around, a fanzine, warts and all, in this day and age.
(Please note any new subs for this campaign will start from the August 2025 mag and cover the 7 mags we will print next season.)
Please ensure RedNews is still here next season.
Any questions whatsoever, ask away (feedback@rednews.co.uk),
Thanks so much for the continued support and kindness.
Take care Reds, Barney. 20th April 2025.
Target = 425 subscribers.
