Sweet Sepulcher (sep-ool-ker) is a new color comic book series from Matthew Allison (CANKOR), launching with a 32-page first issue. Perfect bound and offset printed on 100 lb Omnilux Opaque Smooth White with a matte laminated cover, this book will have duotone stories along with full color strips. 

Originally a horror themed mini-comic/zine, Sweet Sepulcher is now a standard comic-sized, one-person anthology in the spirit of Eightball and Yummy Fur, with an ongoing, interconnected story along with fresh backup shorts featuring Cankor.

An exploration of media violence and attraction/addiction to transgressive art and entertainment (not to mention sugar), this series will touch on the American comics scare of the early 1950's, the rise of mind-bending underground and horror comix in the late 60's and early 70's, along with speculative fiction and some autobiography thrown in every now and then. 

In this premier installment we get the story of young space patrolman, Freddie Potrzebie, and his exploits on the moon. After months of virtual training, second lieutenant Potrzebie flies his first solo lunar mission as he's tasked with extracting the final batch of juvenile delinquents sent to the moon 20 years earlier. Will Freddie's desire to look 'cool' in front of these unruly toughs be his undoing? Does taking the strange drug, Denudal, to impress the hot-to-trot GiGi lead to tragedy for the green lieutnant? THEN, if that weren't enough, you get the first part of a Cankor ongoing - CANKOR: BATTLE DAMAGED. Awakened from a deeply introspective meditation into a chaotic warzone, Cankor attempts to find out if endless war is his/our natural and eternal state of being, or if he/we can rise above the primitive need to dominate and win at all costs. 

Simplicity is the goal with this campaign, and the offerings are straightforward - a PDF version for those outside the US and anyone who is lucky enough to have avoided the 'bug' of collecting paper; a hard copy edition; or a signed copy that also features a small pen & ink drawing on the inside front cover. Lastly there are retailer tiers for purchasing multiple copies at a wholesale discount. That's it. No crazy stretch goals or overabundance of options. I have been incredibly fortunate to have had support from Cankor readers over the last decade and now hope to get some new readers on board with this ongoing comic. I'm excited to finally share this project, something that I've been chipping away at since 2021, and am proud of the work that I'm doing here. I feel good about this thing. The inking on this first issue is 80% complete and the plan is to have files colored, lettered and sent to the printer in mid-July. With that timeline, the comics will begin shipping towards the end of August if all goes well.
