Hearth Interactive | 2024 Burning Man Honoraria Project
HEARTH is an immersive ART installation that invites participants to explore the depths of human emotions and their connection to our planet EARTH.
Suspended within a metal cage, a wooden HEART symbolizes the interplay between EARTH, HEART, and ART. Black Rock Citizens can enter the cage as well as the suspended HEART to discover an inner chamber that can facilitate personal healing, reflection, and connection to EARTH.
HEARTH's visual impact is heightened by illuminated metal continents and pulsating lights synchronizing with the HEART's rhythm, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. HEARTH draws on the interplay between liberation, confinement, individual, and collective.
THE ARTIST, McKENZIE GENIN
HEARTH is McKenzie Genin's first large public art
sculpture, which encourages a shift in perspective from the
individual human experience to a broader, collective, and
planetary viewpoint. It is within the embrace of community
where her art finds its true resonance, a shared journey of
healing and empowerment, enriching lives beyond the confines
of solitude.
2024 BURNING MAN HONORARIA
We are so grateful to have been selected for this grant, which will fund a large portion of our project! However, it will only cover about half of the cost, and we still need help from our community to raise an additional $25k.
The additional money raised will go to:
• Purchasing
metal to fabricate the cage (steel tubing)
• Sheet metal
for the continents
• Tools & hardware
•
Lighting, audio & power equipment (data and programming
fixtures, generators/solar panels)
• Project
Transportation to and from Black Rock City
Your generous
donations will only go to the identified needs and not be spent
on other expenses.
Be part of the change, the collective healing of HEARTH,
and the shift to the intricate relationship of the collective
with the planet, acknowledging the ambiguity and tensions that
arise as we grapple with these complex emotions and challenges.
